Painful sweating

The authors report a case of spontaneous and gustatory facial pain and sweating.The patient had frequent episodes of pain, sweating, and flushing bilaterally in the hairless skin of the ophthalmic and maxillary distributions of the trigeminal nerve.

Sweating Disorders

This article reviews disorders of sweating, including hyperhidrosis and anhidrosis due to central or peripheral autonomic nervous system causes.Disorders of thermoregulation and sweating may manifest with hyperhidrosis or hypohidrosis/anhidrosis. Primary disorders of hyperhidrosis may significantly impact quality of life yet tend to be benign.

Phantom Sweating

Phantom sweating is a sensation in which the patient feels that sweat is about to burst out of skin pores, but in which sweating never actually occurs. In a series of 100 patients undergoing bilateral upper dorsal sympathectomy for palmar hyperihidrosis, 82 patients were specifically questioned and 48 (59%) reported phantom sweating.

Gustatory Sweating

This paper presents an analysis of eighteen patients found to have gustatory sweating or Frey's syndrome as a sequel to parotidectomy. The typical localised sweating reaction was observed most frequently but in a few instances a much more diffuse sweating reaction occurred.
