Spatial Control of Light‐Responsive Proteins and Optogenetics Within Hydrogels via Volumetric Bioprinting

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Spatiotemporal control over cell behavior within bioprinted constructs remains a key challenge in biofabrication. Volumetric bioprinting using multi‐wavelength light sources permits to activate light‐sensitive intracellular proteins as well as optogenetic gene and protein expression circuits in bioprinted cells, in addition to enabling fast printing of

Surfactants as a Tool for Coupling Light Into Hydrodynamic Flow: The Influence of Surfactant Hydrophobicity and Head Polarity

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Reversible light‐induced gradients at solid–liquid interfaces enable controllable interfacial transport via light‐driven diffusioosmosis. We demonstrate directed particle manipulation based on dynamically generated concentration gradients. The mechanism is broadly applicable to cationic, anionic, and non‐ionic surfactants with varying hydrophobicity ...

Psychometric properties of the occupational value with pre-defined items in stroke patients

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Occupational Therapy
Background In stroke rehabilitation, instruments assessing the value individuals attribute to everyday activities are vital. The Occupational Value with pre-defined items (OVal-pd) questionnaire was devised for this purpose.

Soft space regional planning as an approach for integrated transport and land use planning in Sweden – challenges and ways forward

open access: yesUrban, Planning and Transport Research, 2016
Current mobility patterns mean that many trips cross one or several municipal borders. This emphasises the need to integrate land-use and transport planning at regional functional scales.

Conformable Ferrimagnetic Tattoo Electrodes for Plant Electrophysiology

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
The newly developed ferrimagnetic tattoo electrode is capable of measuring plant electrophysiological activity outside the Faraday cage. Its ability to adhere without damaging the plant tissue allows long‐term recordings. This premise opens new avenues for in‐field monitoring of plant health through electrophysiology.

Wood‐Derived Nanocellulose‐Biocarbon Fresnel‐Zone Plate Lenses for Sub‐THz Frequency Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Wood‐derived nanocellulose and lignin‐based biocarbon were combined to fabricate fully bio‐based Fresnel zone plate (FZP) lenses for sub‐terahertz frequencies. These sustainable FZP lenses exhibit low dielectric loss and high directivity, achieving performance comparable to that of metallic references, and remain functional under environmental stress ...

Wireless Precise Manipulation of Tumor Spheroids Using a Millirobot Controlled by Permanent Magnetic Traps

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A magnetic donut‐like millirobot is developed for label‐free pick‐and‐place of a tumor spheroid wirelessly controlled by a magnetic trap. Spheroids are important 3D multicellular culture systems that recapitulate key structural and functional features of native tissues.

Multimodal Imaging Reveals Rapid Catecholamine Uptake and Release by Neutrophils

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We show that immune cells (neutrophils) synthesize, uptake, and store catecholamine neurotransmitters such as dopamine or adrenaline. They also release them in response to specific stimuli (serotonin), which we directly visualize using fluorescent nanosensors. We further demonstrate that catecholamines affect neutrophil functions (NETosis) and platelet
