Swell

open access: yes, 2009
In this video, an abstract kaleidoscopic pattern slowly morphs and changes colour. It is accompanied by a male voice performing a word association or stream-of-consciousness activity.

Description of Extrudate Swell for Polymer Nanocomposites

open access: yes, 2010
Extrudate swell is often observed to be weakened in nanocomposites compared to the pure polymer matrix. A theory quantifying this would be significant either for optimum processing or for understanding their viscoelasticity.

Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Voltage Sag, Swell, and Interruption Compensation Using DVR Based on Energy Storage Device

open access: yesIEEE Access
Though we have many power quality issues, voltage sag, interruption and swell are considered to be very important ones as it occurs very frequently and affects the sensitive loads adversely.

Powder Optimization Strategies for Binder Jetting Printing of BaTiO3 and Ba0,6Sr0,4TiO3 Ceramics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Powder optimization is investigated to enable binder jetting of BaTiO3 and Ba0.6Sr0.4TiO3 ferroelectric ceramics. The antagonistic relationship between flowability and binder compatibility is addressed through binder impregnation of granulated powders and fumed silica addition to fine powders.

Temporal Variations in Wave Systems in a Multimodal Sea State in the Coastal Waters of the Eastern Arabian Sea

open access: yesOceans
Multimodal waves can significantly impact ocean–atmosphere interactions and affect coastal ecosystems. Due to the presence of waves created in different geographical areas, many wave systems coexist in coastal seas.

Reduction of shrink-swell potential with EPS inclusion

open access: yes, 2007
This paper describes how three reconstituted soils with PI ranging from\ud the laboratory by mixing fine sand and sodium rich bentonite. A series\ud these soils, which were mixed with recycled Expanded Polystyrene (EPS).\ud By varying the EPS content ...

Assessing Altered Coating Adhesion on Plasma‐Deoxidized Surfaces Under Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates the effectiveness of atmospheric pressure plasma pretreatment in modifying silicon and stainless steel surfaces to improve adhesion. Argon‐hydrogen plasma increases surface roughness and improves adhesion strength, whereas pure argon results in smoother surfaces and structural changes.
