Wavelength-swept Tm-doped fiber laser operating in the two-micron wavelength band [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A wavelength-swept thulium-doped silica fiber laser using an intracavity rotating slotted-disk wavelength scanning filter in combination with an intracavity solid etalon for passive control of temporal and spectral profiles is reported. The laser yielded

Outdoor Measurements of Perovskite Modules

open access: yesProgress in Photovoltaics: Research and Applications, EarlyView.
Performance of a single junction perovskite module (total area of 0.7164 m2) during 1 year of outdoor monitoring. ABSTRACT For the PSC PV to be a competing technology with silicon and thin film PV technologies more data from field installations need to be studied and examined.

Landless peasants, soilless cultivation: British agricultural experimentation and intervention in post‐independence Iraq (1932–1958)

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
‘Greening’ is often depicted as an inherently benevolent practice, turning arid stretches of land into arable and fertile plots. However, by considering a longer history of place and taking archival records into account, such transformations are rendered more complex and, often, more fraught.

Age- and refraction-related changes in anterior segment anatomical structures measured by swept-source anterior segment OCT.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
PurposeTo assess the effects of age and refractive status on anterior segment anatomical structures, including the ciliary body, using a new swept-source anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) device.MethodsThis prospective observational ...

Complex Master Slave Interferometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A general theoretical model is developed to improve the novel Spectral Domain Interferometry method denoted as Master/Slave (MS) Interferometry. In this model, two functions, g and h are introduced to describe the modulation chirp of the channeled ...

Meteorological conditions leading to a catastrophic, rain‐induced landslide in Cameroon in October 2019

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
October 2019 was characterized by three main multiday wet spells in Bafoussam and Dschang. Our results indicated that wet spells were influenced by a vortex pair near the Gulf of Guinea, a strong Sahara Heat Low located anomalously far east and north, a northward shift of the intertropical discontinuity, an enhancement of the inland penetration of the ...

Suprachoroidal space in Swept-Source OCT (K)

open access: yes, 2015
Purpose: To define the morphology of outer choroidal margins in swept source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT). Methods: Prospective observational study of 180 eyes: 20 eyes of healthy volunteers, 20 eyes of myopic patients and 20 eyes from each of the following groups: macular hole (before and[for full text, please go to the a.m. URL]

Tunable Josephson Generator for Qubit Excitation and Two‐Tone Spectroscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Quantum Technologies, EarlyView.
A tunable on‐chip Josephson generator that enables direct qubit excitation has been presented. The device consists of a current‐biased Josephson junction and a superconducting resonator, forming a microwave source that operates at 4 K. Excitation of the qubit at 20 mK was done via a short coaxial line between the 4 K and 20 mK stages.

Lamellar keratoplasty using position-guided surgical needle and M-mode optical coherence tomography [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty (DALK) is an emerging surgical technique for the restoration of corneal clarity and vision acuity. The big-bubble technique in DALK surgery is the most essential procedure that includes the air injection through a thin
