Polarization sensitive optical coherence tomography utilizing a buffered swept source laser

open access: yesCurrent Directions in Biomedical Engineering, 2017
We present an approach for polarization sensitive optical coherence tomography (PS-OCT) that solely requires a modification of the light source, a buffered swept source laser. For this purpose a single-mode fiber-based Fourier domain mode locked laser is

Liquid Metal Microrobots for Magnetically Guided Transvascular Navigation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid metal‐based microrobots combine magnetic steering, intrinsic X‐ray visibility and softness, to navigate blood vessels even against flow. Under clinically relevant magnetic fields, liquid metal microrobots roll along vessel walls, cross endothelial barriers, and accumulate in target tissues.

Spin‐Dependent Photoluminescence in Carbon‐Based Quantum Dots

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Here we report, for the first time, room‐temperature magneto‐photoluminescence and optically detected electron spin‐resonance in carbon quantum dots (CQD). We perform measurements on a series of amino acid derived CQD at room temperature and demonstrate their sensing potential by detecting paramagnetic molecules in solution.

Current Switching of Topological Spin Chirality in the van der Waals Antiferromagnet Co1/3TaS2

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Spin chirality plays a central role in quantum magnetism, governing spin winding and generating real‐space Berry phases. We propose the intriguing concept of current‐switching spin chirality and demonstrate it via unconventional intrinsic self‐spin‐orbit‐torque in pristine Co1/3TaS2, purely by electrical current and with high energy efficiency.

Analysis of FDML lasers with meter range coherence

open access: yes, 2017
FDML lasers provide sweep rates in the MHz range at wide optical bandwidths, making them ideal sources for high speed OCT. Recently, at lower speed, ultralong-range swept-source OCT has been demonstrated1, 2 using a tunable vertical cavity surface ...

Oxygen Evolution Reaction Catalysts for Acidic‐Media CO2 Electrolyzers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Acidic‐media CO2 electroreduction (CO2R) could decarbonize chemical production, despite relying on rare‐earth elements for anodic oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Transferring the learnings from mature sister technologies (water electrolysis) could accelerate technological development.

Serial swept-source optical coherence tomography: Tale of a choroidal tuberculoma

open access: yesOman Journal of Ophthalmology, 2019
Choroidal tuberculoma is a solitary elevated choroidal mass-like lesion regarded often characteristic of intraocular tuberculosis. Serial swept-source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT) is a very important tool in monitoring the course of choroidal ...
