Swept area modeling and cutter wear study in turn-milling
The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2015In turn-milling machining, we found the cutter wear concentrated on a small section around the corner of the cutter and affect the cutter life. In this paper, the idea of swept area is proposed firstly based on the analyses for cutter wear, and it can indicate the cutter wear.

Improving area swept estimates from bottom trawl surveys
Fisheries Research, 2011Estimation of area swept is a key component for standardizing catch per unit effort (CPUE) data from fishery independent bottom trawl surveys and survey trawl gear experiments. Given technological advances and the proliferation of data streams from net mensuration equipment and global positioning system (GPS), techniques for estimating survey effort ...

Swept area theory: an approach in nonlinear and switched network analysis
International Journal of Circuit Theory and Applications, 2015SummaryIn this work, according to the concept of ‘area’ on the v–i plane, a new approach called swept area theory, under both nonlinear continuous and discontinuous conditions, is developed. Novel conservative functions, such as area velocity and closed area over time (CAT), involved in this theory, are proposed. An analysis is carried out, by means of

Generating the Swept Area of a Body Undergoing Planar Motion
Journal of Mechanical Design, 1991The swept area of a two-dimensional object undergoing motion in its plane of definition is the union of the area occupied by the object at all positions during the motion. A methodology for determining a close approximation to an exact swept area of a convex object with a known arbitrary motion is developed here.

Swept Areas After Breakthrough in Vertically Fractured Five-Spot Patterns
Transactions of the AIME, 1959Published in Petroleum Transactions, AIME, Volume 216, 1959, pages 73–77. Abstract Potentiometric model data have been obtained to estimate the effect of vertical fractures on the areas swept after breakthrough in water flooding and miscible displacement programs such as gas cycling where the mobility

Performance analysis of vertical axis wind turbine with variable swept area
2017 International Seminar on Intelligent Technology and Its Applications (ISITIA), 2017This paper presents optimum power output from vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT's) by changing variable swept area. We used the H-Darrieus type of VAWT's, it has developed extendable blade and radius of VAWT's. These turbines response to the wind speed by changing swept area automatically extend outward at low wind speed and retract at excessive wind ...

Areas Swept out by Tangent Line Segments
Mathematics Magazine, 1954The author happened upon the formulas for area presented in this paper when working on an ergodic problem proposed to him by Professor B. H. Neumann. A,search of the literature reveals that the planar case implies Guldin's Formula and is practically equivalent to it.

Design Charts for Estimating Swept Areas After Breakthrough in Flooding Heterogeneous Reservoirs
SPE Permian Basin Oil Recovery Conference, 1971Abstract A study has been made and a series of charts are provided so that one may estimate the swept areas after breakthrough in flooding or cycling heterogeneous reservoirs. It is well known that reservoirs are not uniform and homogeneous, nor do they exist in uniform layers without crossflow, yet, the working ...
