Large-Area Atom Interferometry with Frequency-Swept Raman Adiabatic Passage [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2015
We demonstrate light-pulse atom interferometry with large-momentum-transfer atom optics based on stimulated Raman transitions and frequency-swept adiabatic rapid passage. Our atom optics have produced momentum splittings of up to 30 photon recoil momenta in an acceleration-sensitive interferometer for laser cooled atoms.

Explaining the decline of US wind output power density

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Communications, 2023
US wind power generation has grown significantly over the last decades, in line with the number and average size of operating turbines. However, wind power density has declined, both measured in terms of wind power output per rotor swept area as well as ...

Effect of Leading/Trailing Edge Swept Impeller on Flow Characteristics of Low Specific Speed Centrifugal Compressor

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
A low specific speed centrifugal compressor with leading/trailing edge combined sweep blades is proposed. The performance and internal flow field characteristics are analyzed in detail by numerical simulations, and a bench test is carried out.

High-Linear Frequency-Swept Lasers with Data-Driven Control

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
The frequency-swept laser (FSL) is applied widely in various sensing systems in the scientific and industrial fields, especially in the light detection and ranging (Lidar) area.

Depth trajectory and performance of a trawl used for an international bottom trawl survey in the Mediterranean

open access: yesScientia Marina, 2002
An international bottom trawl survey (the MEDITS programme) has been carried out every year in the Mediterranean since 1994. During each survey, about 1000 hauls are done by a fleet of 8 to 11 vessels from 10 to 800 m depth, applying a unique ...

The first-passage area for drifted Brownian motion and the moments of the Airy distribution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
An exact expression for the distribution of the area swept out by a drifted Brownian motion till its first-passage time is derived. A study of the asymptotic behaviour confirms earlier conjectures and clarifies their range of validity.

Energy Efficiency Optimization Design of a Forward-Swept Axial Flow Fan for Heat Pump

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research, 2021
As one of the key components of the heat pump system, compared to that of a conventional axial fan, the blade tip area of a forward-swept axial fan is much larger than its blade root, which is the main noise source of the fan and also has an important ...

The Dynamics Of Vortex And Monopole Production By Quench Induced Phase Separation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Our understanding of the mechanism by which topological defects are formed in symmetry breaking phase transitions has recently changed. We examine the non-equilibrium dynamics of defect formation for weakly-coupled global O(N) theories possessing ...

Problems of ensuring traffic flow on a Basic turbo roundabout with non-standard curvilinear entries (a case study) [PDF]

open access: yesPrzegląd Komunikacyjny, 2023
: With ever-increasing motorisation and the desire for greater traffic safety, conventional roundabouts and turbo roundabouts are being designed. Turbo roundabouts provide greater traffic safety than conventional roundabouts due to the segregation of ...

Statistics of the first passage time of Brownian motion conditioned by maximum value or area [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We derive the moments of the first passage time for Brownian motion conditioned by either the maximum value or the area swept out by the motion. These quantities are the natural counterparts to the moments of the maximum value and area of Brownian ...
