Effect of swift heavy ions in Ni–Al nanocrystalline films studied by X-ray absorption spectroscopy

open access: yes, 2011
X-ray absorption spectroscopic measurements have been used to compare the electronic structures of swift heavy ions (100 MeV Si ions) irradiated and pristine Ni–Al nanocrystalline films.

Advances and Perspectives in Graphene‐Based Quantum Dots Enabled Neuromorphic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Graphene‐based QDs are zero‐dimensional carbon nanomaterials with pronounced quantum confinement and tunable electronic structures. Herein, we summarize their synthesis strategies and functionalization methods, and highlight their functional roles and operating mechanisms in devices, as well as recent advances in neuromorphic electronics. We anticipate

Characterization of swift heavy ion irradiation damage in ceria

open access: yes, 2015
Swift heavy ion induced radiation damage is investigated for ceria (CeO2), which serves as a UO2 fuel surrogate. Microstructural changes resulting from an irradiation with 940 MeV gold ions of 42 keV/nm electronic energy loss are investigated by means of

Mechanisms of Alkali Ionic Transport in Amorphous Oxyhalides Solid State Conductors

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Large‐scale machine learning‐based molecular dynamics simulations are used to investigate isovalent amorphous oxyhalides, revealing a remarkable chemically independent ionic conductivity. A rigorous analysis of alkali residence times across different metal–anion environments identifies divalent anions as key diffusion bottlenecks.

Formation of branched structures of swift heavy ions induced tracks [PDF]

open access: yesЯдерна фізика та енергетика, 2011
Formation of the extensive structures from separate tracks depending on the characteristics of projectile beam and on parameters of the swift heavy ions induced tracks are theoretically modeled in this paper.

Toward Predictable Nanomedicine: Current Forecasting Frameworks for Nanoparticle–Biology Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Predictive models successfully screen nanoparticles for toxicity and cellular uptake. Yet, complex biological dynamics and sparse, nonstandardized data limit their accuracy. The field urgently needs integrated artificial intelligence/machine learning, systems biology, and open‐access data protocols to bridge the gap between materials science and safe ...

MD and TEM evaluation of swift Xe ion induced latent tracks in Si3N4 [PDF]

open access: yesEurasian Journal of Physics and Functional Materials, 2019
As known silicon nitride ceramics is considered as a candidate material for inert matrix fuel hosts used for transmutation of minor actinides. Unfortunately, by now very limited data is devoted to investigate of its stability under high energy heavy ion ...
