From Flybys to Sample Return: A Review of Space Probes and Robotic Sampling Technologies for Small Bodies

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As a crucial puzzle piece of deep space exploration, exploring small bodies can provide significant scientific insights and valuable mineral resources. Unlike missions to the Moon and Mars, small‐body missions pose distinct technical challenges, including communication delays, weak gravity, and uncertain environments. This paper reviews a full

MeV irradiation of tungsten nanowires: structural modifications

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2020
In this work we use the Two Temperature Model coupled to Molecular Dynamics (TTM-MD) to study swift heavy ion irradiation of W finite nanowires. Au projectiles are considered with energies ranging from 20 to 50 MeV, which correspond to electronic ...

Manipulation of the graphene surface potential by ion irradiation

open access: yes, 2013
We show that the work function of exfoliated single layer graphene can be modified by irradiation with swift (E_{kin}=92 MeV) heavy ions under glancing angles of incidence. Upon ion impact individual surface tracks are created in graphene on SiC.

Approaching Gold‐Standard Sensitivity in a Portable and Versatile Gold Nanoprisms Thermoplasmonic Platform for Lateral Flow Detection of Biomolecules

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
This study presents a plasmonic thermal lateral flow (ThermoLFA) biosensor for ultrasensitive, early detection of biomolecules. By combining plasmonic gold nanoprisms (AuNPrs) and near‐infrared (NIR) laser activation, it enhances signal output beyond conventional LFAs.
