Molecular dynamics simulations of swift heavy ion induced defect recovery in SiC

open access: yes, 2012
Swift heavy ions induce a high density of electronic excitations that can cause the formation of amorphous ion tracks in insulators. No ion tracks have been observed in the semiconductor SiC, but recent experimental work suggests that irradiation damaged

The L108I polymorphism in mouse prion protein drives spontaneous disease and enhances transmission of atypical and classical prion strains

open access: yesBrain Pathology, Volume 36, Issue 4, July 2026.
A single amino acid change (L108I) combined with PrP overexpression drives spontaneous atypical prion formation in mice, enabling also efficient propagation of diverse prion strains. This model allows studying how spontaneous prion diseases arise and provides powerful tools for investigating strain emergence, transmission barriers, and mechanisms ...

Swift heavy ion irradiation effects on structural, surface, and optical properties of ZnSe thin films

open access: yesNext Materials
ZnSe thin films were deposited using a two-step process involving DC sputtering of Zn thereafter by CVD-based selenization, and the effects of swift heavy ion irradiation were systematically investigated using two ion species with distinct energy-loss ...

Decisions Under Radical Uncertainty: The Role of Volitional Liminality in Radical Innovation

open access: yesJournal of Product Innovation Management, Volume 43, Issue 4, Page 592-615, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Academic Summary Radical innovation management can be understood as an organizational practice that enacts distant futures, which are open‐ended and unknowable. Such radical innovation endeavors are thus characterized by radical uncertainty, where possible futures are not only quantitatively but qualitatively different from the present, and ...

Creation and Stability of Color Centers in BaF2 Single Crystals Irradiated with Swift 132Xe Ions

open access: yesCrystals
It was demonstrated that various defects can be induced in halide crystals by irradiation with swift heavy ions. Here, we irradiated barium fluoride (BaF2) single crystals with 220 MeV xenon ions at room temperature and performed stepwise thermal ...

Swift heavy ion beam induced recrystallization of amorphous Si layers

open access: yes, 2005
This paper focuses on the role of electronic energy loss in ion beam induced epitaxial crystallization for which swift heavy ions (100 MeV Ag7+) have been used.

A Crystalline Ylide‐Stabilized Stibenium Cation

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, Volume 29, Issue 17, 17 June 2026.
The isolation of a stibenium cation stabilized by two thiophosphinoyl‐tethered ylide groups is reported. The cation is accessible via salt metathesis of the metalated ylide with SbCl3 and features CSb single bonds, with lone pairs remaining localized at the ylidic carbon atoms.
