Wavelet Transform‐Based Atomic Force Microscopy: A Computational Paradigm for Dynamic Nanoscale Imaging and Characterisation

open access: yesSmall Science, Volume 6, Issue 8, August 2026.
Wavelet transform‐based AFM enables real‐time nanoscale imaging by applying wavelet analysis to raw cantilever deflection signals. It reveals non‐linear, transient and multi‐frequency dynamics beyond conventional steady‐state methods. Integrated with adaptive filtering and digital twin modelling, it produces high‐resolution, information‐rich maps of ...

Elucidation of the Physical Separation and Accumulation Mechanisms of Three Distinct Layers in Grease Traps

open access: yesWater Environment Research, Volume 98, Issue 8, August 2026.
Grease trap performance is dominated by sludge accumulation rather than surface scum. This study reveals the mechanisms governing three‐layer formation and provides design criteria and a mechanistic model to improve grease trap efficiency and prevent sewer blockages.

Biofluid Biomarkers of Cognitive Functioning in Bipolar Disorder: A Systematic Review by the Targeting Cognition and Older‐Age Bipolar Disorder ISBD Task Forces

open access: yesBipolar Disorders, Volume 28, Issue 5, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Cognitive impairment is common in bipolar disorder (BD), but the underlying pathophysiology remains unclear. This systematic review aimed to (1) summarize all literature describing relationships of biofluid biomarkers and cognition in BD and (2) identify which biofluid biomarkers correlate most consistently with cognition in BD ...

Towards an Integrated Staging Model for Bipolar Disorders: An International Society for Bipolar Disorders (ISBD) Staging Task Force Consensus Report

open access: yesBipolar Disorders, Volume 28, Issue 5, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives Three clinical staging models for bipolar disorder (BD) have been published, each with a different but complementary approach and focus. The International Society for Bipolar Disorders Staging Task Force aimed to integrate these models into one comprehensive three‐dimensional staging model, separately rating bipolar spectrum ...
