Layered Von Kármán's swirling flow

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 2004
The author examines the Navier-Stokes equations describing a swirling flow consisting of two fluid layers. It is assumed that the fluid is injected into the swirl in the bottom layer from a rotating disk when the disk melts in ambient fluid and the melted fluid is removed by centrifugal forces. By using similarity transformation, the problem is reduced

Functional and Structural Evidence of Neurofluid Circuit Aberrations in Huntington Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Disrupted neurofluid regulation may contribute to neurodegeneration in Huntington disease (HD). Because neurofluid pathways influence waste clearance, inflammation, and the distribution of central nervous system (CNS)–delivered therapeutics, understanding their dysfunction is increasingly important as targeted treatments emerge.

Structure–Function Decoupling of the Sensorimotor and Default Mode Networks in Black Americans With MS

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Multiple sclerosis (MS) exhibits racially disparate rates of disease progression. Black people with MS (B‐PwMS) experience a more severe disease course than non‐Hispanic White people with MS (NHW‐PwMS). Here we investigated structural and functional connectivity as well as structure–function decoupling in the ...

Diagnostic Utility of Testing for Novel Murine Autoantibodies for Sjögren's Disease in the Rheumatology Outpatient Setting

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective The goal was to assess the diagnostic performance of three novel autoantibodies (NA) for Sjögren's disease (SjD) by comparing NA prevalence in patients with SjD, other autoimmune rheumatic diseases (ARDs), nonspecific chronic sialadenitis (CS), and controls.

Quantifying Swirl Number Effects on Recirculation Zones and Vortex Dynamics in a Dual-Swirl Combustor

open access: yesEnergies
Swirl-stabilized combustors are central to gas turbine technology, where the swirl number critically determines flow structure and combustion stability. This work systematically investigates the isothermal flow in a dual-swirl combustor, focusing on two ...

Numerical study of inlet air swirl intensity effect of a Methane-Air Diffusion Flame on its combustion characteristics

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2020
In this paper, the effect of inlet air swirl number of a Methane-Air Diffusion Flame on dynamic flow behavior, temperature, and radiation heat flux distribution was investigated using ANSYS-Fluent CFD code.

Analytical and experimental investigation of flow fields of annular jets with and without swirling flow [PDF]

open access: yes
Analytical and experimental studies were performed to define the flowfield of annular jets, with and, without swirling flow. The analytical model treated configurations with variations of flow angularities, radius ratio, and swirl distributions.

Active flow control of the vortex rope and pressure pulsations in a swirl generator

open access: yes, 2017
The vortex rope and pressure pulsations caused by a radial pressure gradient in the conical diffuser of a swirl generator is controlled using continuous slot jets with different momentum fluxes and angles injected from the runner crown.

Efficient Process Development for Laser Powder Bed Fusion of a Soft‐Magnetic Metallic Glass Composite

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Iron‐based metallic glass alloys exhibit excellent soft‐magnetic properties, and unprecedented geometrical freedom in the design of soft‐magnetic metallic glass components is made possible by additive manufacturing. An efficient workflow for developing parameters for laser‐based powder bed fusion of a Fe‐based metallic glass alloy is presented along ...

Effect of tangential swirl air inlet angle on the combustion efficiency of a hybrid powder-solid ramjet [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
A new ramjet configuration using powder and solid fuel as propellant is investigated, namely, hybrid powder-solid ramjet (HPSR). Boron particles were used as the powder in this study.
