Whole‐Genome Sequencing and Resequencing of Hucho bleekeri Provides Insights into Genetic Mechanisms of Environmental Adaptation

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
A high‐quality chromosome‐level reference genome was constructed for Hucho bleekeri. Population structure and environmental adaptation of Hucho species were revealed by whole‐genome resequencing. ABSTRACT Salmonidae represents an important family in the study of genome evolution following genome duplication.

Optimization of Swirling Flow Energy Parameters on the Velocity Profile after Local Obstacle by Firefly Algorithm

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, 2017
The paper deals with swirling flow (SF) phenomenon which occurs in fluid flow after local obstacle. The phenomenon of SF has been considered in many studies, but here is some different approach to this problem.

The Mutable Original: How Chinese Counterfeits Become Nigerian Originals in African Markets

open access: yesAmerican Anthropologist, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Affordable Chinese copies of Western brands are ubiquitous in African markets. Despite democratizing consumer access, these goods appear to cement hegemonic value hierarchies that rank Chinese or local products as inferior to Western goods.

Variational Approach to a Turbulent Swirling Pipe Flow with the Aid of Helicity

open access: yes, 2001
"A turbulent swirling flow in a circular pipe is studied with the aid of a variational method. The turbulent-energy production effect, which is linked with spatial velocity gradients, expresses the energy cascade from mean to turbulent components of ...

Numerical investigation on oil–water flow characteristics and construction optimization for novel wellbore lubrication fitting

open access: yesAIP Advances
Water-lubricated oil–water flow is an effective low-energy consumption method for pipeline transportation. This study proposes a novel wellbore lubrication fitting (WLF) for developing a core-swirling flow to reduce flow resistance and enhance ...

Limited Utility of a Test‐Yolk Buffer Semen Extender for Preserving Human Semen Parameters for Use in a Diagnostic Setting

open access: yesAndrology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Identification of a preservation medium that accurately retains semen parameters would be advantageous for men requiring semen analysis by allowing them to produce sperm samples at home rather than on site or even facilitate ‘mail order’ semen analysis.

Study on the Flow Field Characteristics and Particle Motion Behavior in the Cylindrical Hydrocyclone

open access: yesSeparations
The cylindrical hydrocyclone can be regarded as a special-shaped hydrocyclone comprising entirely cylindrical sections without conical sections, featuring a unique flat-bottom design combined with central discharge, which promotes substantial particle ...
