Single-phase switched reluctance motors

IEE Proceedings B Electric Power Applications, 1987
The paper describes the design features and performance of single-phase switched reluctance motors for low-power variable-speed drives. The main advantages of these motors lie in their simple robust construction and low manufacturing cost. Experimental results from two prototypes are given, showing satisfactory performance.

Modelling of switched reluctance motors

CCECE '97. Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering. Engineering Innovation: Voyage of Discovery. Conference Proceedings, 2002
Switched reluctance motors (SRM) provide an alternative for low power automobile drives. However, the modeling and design of SRMs are not as mature as other conventional electric machines. This presents an opportunity to combine the generalized electrical machine theory and the finite element analysis in establishing a convenient and accurate model ...

Comparison of vibration between an evaporative cooling switched reluctance motor and a conventional switched reluctance motor

2017 IEEE 58th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON), 2017
Distinguishing with all the methods mitigating switched reluctance motors(SRMs)' vibration, this paper presents an effective damping method to weaken the vibration and noise propagation. Evaporative cooling stators can be considered as the damping method to the SRMs' vibration problem, as it reduces the radial electromagnetic forces in stators by ...

Switched Reluctance Motor Drives (SRM)

2010
The principle of operation of reluctance machines are known for a long time. In 1838 a locomotive was driven by such a motor in Scotland. The stepper motor which also works on the principle of variable reluctance was patented by CL Walker in 1920. The basic concepts of switched reluctance motors in present form were first introduced by SA Nasar in his ...

Dynamic Eccentricity Modeling of a Switched Reluctance Motor

The switched reluctance motor (SRM), known for its robust and simple construction, is widely utilized in critical applications. This study investigates the impact of rotor dynamic eccentricity on the motor's current signal. Our research introduces a straightforward diagnostic method to detect and quantify dynamic eccentricity by analyzing the current ...
