Influence of the Process Parameters on the Quality and Efficiency of the Resistance Spot Welding Process of Advanced High-Strength Complex-Phase Steels

open access: yesMetals, 2021
In this study, the effects of electrical characteristics of an inverter combined with main welding parameters on the resistance spot weldability of advanced high strength steels (AHSS) CP1000 is investigated. The main welding parameters, current and time,

Optimal switching of a nanomagnet assisted by microwaves

open access: yes, 2010
We develop an efficient and general method for optimizing the microwave field that achieves magnetization switching with a smaller static field. This method is based on optimal control and renders an exact solution for the 3D microwave field that ...

Adherence to Protocol Recommendations for Children With Wilms Tumour in Two Consecutive Studies in the United Kingdom and Ireland—Does Variation Matter?

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Wilms tumour (WT) has excellent event‐free and overall survival (OS). However, small differences exist between countries participating in the same international study. This led us to examine variation in adherence to protocol recommendations as a potential contributing factor.

Frequency Division Using a Soliton-Injected Semiconductor Gain-Switched Frequency Comb [PDF]

open access: yesConference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2020
By injecting a soliton microcomb into a semiconductor laser that is driven by a sinusoidal current at the subharmonic frequencies of the soliton rate, we demonstrate broadband gain-switched frequency comb generation and low-noise microwave synthesis.

Preferences of Pediatric Patients and Their Caregivers for Chemotherapy‐Induced Nausea and Vomiting Control Endpoints: A Mixed Methods Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Although not always achieved, complete chemotherapy‐induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) control is the conventional goal of CINV prophylaxis. In this two‐center, mixed‐methods study, we sought to understand the preferences of adolescent patients and family caregivers for CINV control endpoints.

Detection of frequency‐hopping radio frequency‐switch transients

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2014
When the frequency‐hopping (FH) radios' frequency switches, there are transient signals which can be used to identify the specific FH radio. To extract the frequency‐switch transients, a linearity detector based on the FH frequency trajectory acquired by time–frequency analysis is proposed to locate the change points between two stable signals.

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

High-speed transparent switch via frequency upconversion

open access: yesOptics Express, 2006
We demonstrate a novel all-optical switch based on frequency upconversion. The switch features advantages for telecommunications: it is fast, transparent, frequency-multiplexable and bias-free.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.
