Soft switching bidirectional DC-DC converter to reduce switching losses

2011 International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems, 2011
In this paper, soft switching bidirectional DC-DC converter is proposed. The proposed topology is consisted of two auxiliary switch, two resonant capacitors and one resonant inductor compared to conventional bidirectional DC-DC converter. Through employing ZVS(Zero Voltage Switching) and ZCS(Zero Current Switching) methods, switching loss occurs from ...

Low-loss microwave photonic switching for satellite communication

Optics Letters, 2023
For traditional switching architecture, packet switching performs fine granularity data packet forwarding, but its digital signal processing (DSP) has high power consumption (PC). All-optical switching provides rapid exchange of wavelength resources, which has coarse granularity.

A zero switching loss matrix converter

Proceedings of IEEE Power Electronics Specialist Conference - PESC '93, 2002
A low loss bidirectional switch set is proposed for a matrix power converter. The proposed switch is able to turn on at zero current and turn off at zero voltage to achieve almost zero loss and soft switching. Hence, a simple hysteretic current control can now be applied directly to a matrix power converter without adding any additional snubber circuit

Low loss soft switching boost converter

2008 13th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference, 2008
A new soft switching boost converter is proposed in this paper. The conventional boost converter generates switching losses at turn on and off. Because of those, the whole system efficiency is reduced. The proposed converter utilizes soft switching method using an auxiliary switch and resonant circuit.

Low-loss self-switching bandstop filter

2016 46th European Microwave Conference (EuMC), 2016
A new switchable low-loss bandstop filter is presented based on an indirect switching method combined with all-pass coupled lines. The proposed design allows switching between an all-pass mode and a bandstop filter mode for On/Off operation of a bandstop response.

Energy loss in spark gap switches

Physics of Plasmas, 2014
The paper reports on numerical study of the energy loss in spark gap switches. The operation of the switches is analyzed using the Braginsky model which allows calculation of the time dependence of the spark channel resistance. The Braginsky equation is solved simultaneously with generator circuit equations for different load types.

Estimation of switched reluctance motor losses

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 1992
A method of predicting switched reluctance motor (SRM) losses under operating conditions inclusive of saturation is described. General expressions for the flux frequencies in different parts of the core are derived. Fourier analysis is applied to decompose the flux waveforms into their constituent sinusoidal components, which are then used in ...

Energy loss reduction by critical switches

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 1993
A systematic method to derive an optimal switching plan to achieve energy loss minimization for short term and long term operation of distribution systems is presented. The short term optimal switching criterion is developed by binary integer programming with a branch and bound technique.
