Joint Performance Study of Channel Estimation and Multiuser Detection for Uplink Long-Code CDMA Systems

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2004
Although numerous channel estimation and multiuser detection approaches have appeared for long-code uplink CDMA systems, joint performance study of channel estimators and symbol detectors remains largely open.

Deep Receiver Architectures for Robust MIMO Rate Splitting Multiple Access

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Machine Learning in Communications and Networking
Machine Learning tools are becoming very powerful alternatives to improve the robustness of wireless communication systems. Signal processing procedures that tend to collapse in the presence of model mismatches can be effectively improved and made robust

Staff, Symbol and Melody Detection of Medieval Manuscripts Written in Square Notation Using Deep Fully Convolutional Networks

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Even today, the automatic digitisation of scanned documents in general, but especially the automatic optical music recognition (OMR) of historical manuscripts, still remains an enormous challenge, since both handwritten musical symbols and text have to ...

Deep Reservoir Computing Meets 5G MIMO-OFDM Systems in Symbol Detection

open access: yesAAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence, 2020
Conventional reservoir computing (RC) is a shallow recurrent neural network (RNN) with fixed high dimensional hidden dynamics and one trainable output layer. It has the nice feature of requiring limited training which is critical for certain applications

The cooperative regulation of miR‐221 by APE1 and AUF1 impacts p27Kip1 defining a miR signature relevant for cervical cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A regulatory axis involving APE1, AUF1, and miR‐221 is proposed. Pri‐miR‐221 is processed by DROSHA and DICER to generate mature miR‐221, which targets p27Kip1 mRNA. APE1 and AUF1 compete for pre‐miR‐221 binding. Reduced APE1/AUF1 levels impair miR‐221 biogenesis, decrease p27Kip1 mRNA degradation, and promote cell cycle progression, chemoresistance ...

Deep Neural Network Symbol Detection for Millimeter Wave Communications [PDF]

open access: yesGlobal Communications Conference, 2019
This paper proposes to use a deep neural network (DNN)- based symbol detector for mmWave systems such that channel state information (CSI) acquisition can be bypassed.

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Decreased cold‐sensing function of the transient receptor potential channel TRPM8 from tailed amphibians

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Despite frogs avoiding low temperatures, examination of four salamander species revealed that none avoided cold and all possessed cold tolerance. Functional analysis of TRPM8, a cold sensor, showed that all salamander TRPM8s had lost their cold sensitivity.
