Creative Brains: Designing in the Real World
The process of designing artifacts is a creative activity. It is proposed that, at the cognitive level, one key to understanding design creativity is to understand the array of symbol systems designers utilize. These symbol systems range from being vague,

Low-Complexity Blind Symbol Timing Offset Estimation in OFDM Systems
A low-complexity blind timing algorithm is proposed to estimate timing offset in OFDM systems when multiple symbols are received (the timing offset estimation is independent of the frequency offset one).

ABSTRACT Background Therapeutic apheresis (TA) is an established treatment modality for hematologic, neurologic, and immunologic disorders, yet access remains severely limited in sub‐Saharan Africa. Donor apheresis, including platelet apheresis collection from healthy donors, represents an important complementary modality supporting blood product ...

Animals must match their growth rate to available nutrients. We show that in Drosophila larvae, the nutrient‐sensing TOR kinase controls growth by regulating levels of TFAM, a key regulator of mitochondrial function, in the adipose tissue. When nutrients are abundant, high TOR activity suppresses TFAM, lowering mitochondrial bioenergetic activity and ...

Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.

Synchronization technics for OFDM systems [PDF]
[ENGLISH] The thesis deals with the problem of synchronization in Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems. This modulation technique has been in existence since 1960, however, in the last years OFDM modulation is emerged as a key ...
