Isolation Forests for Symbolic Data as a Tool for Outlier Mining

open access: yesEkonometria
Aim: Outlier detection is a key part of every data analysis. Although many definitions of outliers can be found in the literature, all of them emphasize that outliers are objects that are in some way different from other objects in the dataset.

A Data-driven Approach for Star Formation Parameterization Using Symbolic Regression

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Star formation (SF) in the interstellar medium (ISM) is fundamental to understanding galaxy evolution and planet formation. However, efforts to develop closed-form analytic expressions that link SF with key influencing physical variables, such as gas ...

A Novel Feature Representation and Clustering for Histogram-Valued Data

open access: yesMathematics
In an era where large-scale data are produced and collected rapidly, great interest is attributed to symbolic data analysis in order to explore connotative and significant information from massive data.

In Situ Study of Resistive Switching in a Nitride‐Based Memristive Device

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In situ TEM biasing experiment demonstrates the volatile I‐V characteristic of MIM lamella device. In situ STEM‐EELS Ti L2/L3 ratio maps provide direct evidence of the oxygen vacancies migrations under positive/negative electrical bias, which is critical for revealing the RS mechanism for the MIM lamella device.

Multilayer Soft Photonic Arrays Inspired by Cephalopod Skin for High‐Density, Independent, and Multimodal Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A vertically stacked, DEA‐driven photonic array inspired by cephalopod skin, featuring highly crystalline colloidal crystal gels with vivid color, low FWHM and scalability is presented. The multilayer design removes lateral pixel interference, achieving near‐100% fill factor with fully independent RGB actuation.

Controlled Movement of Soft Actuators using Multi‐Responsive Microgel Arrays and Microcirculatory Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Microscale hydrogels (microgels) feature improved mass transport characteristics supportive of fast actuation and chemical tunability amenable to programmed stimuli response. A unique soft actuator architecture is realized by encapsulating microgels in soft microcirculatory systems which enable the convenient delivery of liquid stimuli for powering and

Using the Photostationary State of Arylazopyrazoles to Control Phase Transitions of Liquid Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A series of new arylazopyrazole photoswitches is designed as dopants for liquid crystalline materials. Unprecedented, the distribution of photoisomers at the photostationary state upon irradiation with light of specific wavelengths (365, 460, 520 nm) is used to control the liquid crystalline phase transitions under isothermal conditions, including ...
