On Higher-Dimensional Symmetric Designs
We study two kinds of generalizations of symmetric block designs to higher dimensions, the so-called $\mathcal{C}$-cubes and $\mathcal{P}$-cubes. For small parameters, all examples up to equivalence are determined by computer calculations. Known properties of automorphisms of symmetric designs are extended to autotopies of $\mathcal{P}$-cubes, while ...

Creating Ti–Fe α/β Alloys by Diffusion‐Driven Solid‐State Processing
This study proposes making alloys containing fast diffusing elements that are difficult to produce by ingot metallurgy, by diffusion‐driven solid‐state HIP processing of elemental powders and low‐temperature homogenisation. Here, novel Fe‐Ti α–β alloys are formed having fine α–β lamellae, a small β prior grain size without significant intermetallics ...

Performance Analysis of Abradable Coating Systems for Aircraft Gas Turbines
Three CoNiCrAlY/YSZ/MgAl2O4 abradable liner configurations on a nickel‐superalloy are evaluated by thermal‐gradient cycling and incursion tests. Laser ablation of the bondcoat and/or Y2O3‐stabilized ZrO2 (YSZ) intermediate layer increases mechanical interlocking and bonding for thick topcoats.

Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.

A non-empty subset of points of a symmetric 2 - (v, k, λ) design is a λ-arc if it meets every block in 0 or λ points. If a λ-arc exists, then it has λs - s + 1 points, for some integer s ⩾ 2, and v = λs2 - s + 1, k = λs.Designs with such parameters are known under certain conditions for the cases s = λ and s = λ + 1.

A two‐dimensional multiscale finite element analysis framework was established for the first‐generation MoSiBTiC alloy, and the mechanical and fracture‐related parameters of the constituent phases were calibrated through experiments and simulations. The framework provides a basis for analyzing crack propagation behavior in its complex microstructure ...

A family of symmetric block designs
It is shown that the family of symmetric designs with parameters \((n^ 3+n+1,n^ 2+1,n)\) where both n-1 and \(n^ 2-n+1\) are prime powers, constructed by \textit{S. S. Shrikhande} and \textit{N. M. Singhi} [Util. Math. 8, 187-192 (1975; Zbl 0323.05010)] and also \textit{D. P. Rajkundlia} [Discrete Math.

Influence of Test Temperature and Test Frequency on Fatigue Life of Aluminum Alloy EN AW‐2618A
The influence of test temperature and test frequency on the fatigue life of EN AW‐2618A is investigated. High‐cycle fatigue tests are performed at different test temperatures and frequencies on the 1000 h/230°C overaged state. Both test parameters reduce fatigue life due to time‐dependent damage mechanisms.
