Lessons Learned From a Delayed‐Start Trial of Modafinil for Freezing of Gait in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Freezing of gait (FOG) in people with Parkinson's disease (PwPD) is debilitating and has limited treatments. Modafinil modulates beta/gamma band activity in the pedunculopontine nucleus (PPN), like PPN deep brain stimulation. We therefore tested the hypothesis that Modafinil would improve FOG in PwPD.

On group structures of strategic-form games

open access: yesFundamental Research
There are two recognized classes of strategic-form symmetric games, both of which can be conveniently defined through the corresponding player symmetry groups. We investigate the basic properties of these groups and several related concepts.

Symmetric generating set of the groups A2n+1 and S2n+1 using Sn and an element of order two

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1998
In this paper we will show how to generate in general A2n+1 and S2n+1 using a copy of Sn and an element of order 2 in A2n+1 or S2n+1 for all positive integers n≥2.

On the lattice of pronormal subgroups of dicyclic, alternating and symmetric groups [PDF]

open access: yesMathematica Bohemica
In this paper, the structures of collection of pronormal subgroups of dicyclic, symmetric and alternating groups $G$ are studied in respect of formation of lattices ${\rm L}(G)$ and sublattices of ${\rm L}(G)$.

Whole‐Body Pattern of Muscle Degeneration and Progression in Sarcoglycanopathies

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To characterize whole‐body intramuscular fat distribution pattern in patients with sarcoglycanopathies and explore correlations with disease severity, duration and age at onset. Methods Retrospective, cross‐sectional, multicentric study enrolling patients with variants in one of the four sarcoglycan genes who underwent whole‐body ...

Discrete isometry groups of symmetric spaces

open access: yes, 2017
This survey is based on a series of lectures that we gave at MSRI in Spring 2015 and on a series of papers, mostly written jointly with Joan Porti. Our goal here is to: 1.

Spinal Cord Infarction Versus Idiopathic Transverse Myelitis: Clinical, Radiological, and Functional Insights From a Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Spinal cord infarction (SCI) is a rare but devastating myelopathy, characterized by a high disability rate and an unfavorable prognosis. It has often been underdiagnosed and misdiagnosed as idiopathic transverse myelitis (ITM). This study aimed to describe the clinical features, radiological biomarkers, treatments, and functional ...

Invariance groups of finite functions and orbit equivalence of permutation groups

open access: yesOpen Mathematics, 2015
Which subgroups of the symmetric group Sn arise as invariance groups of n-variable functions defined on a k-element domain? It appears that the higher the difference n-k, the more difficult it is to answer this question.

Diffusion Spectrum Imaging Maps Early Axonal Loss and a Unique Progressive Signal in Neuronal Intranuclear Inclusion Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To delineate specific in vivo white matter pathology in neuronal intranuclear inclusion disease (NIID) using diffusion spectrum imaging (DSI) and define its clinical relevance. Methods DSI was performed on 42 NIID patients and 38 matched controls.

Algebras of conjugacy classes in symmetric groups

open access: yes, 2018
In 1999 V. Ivanov and S. Kerov observed that structure constants of algebras of conjugacy classes of symmetric groups $S_n$ admit a stabilization (in a non-obvious sense) as $n\to \infty$.
