Optimization of the Shape of Axi-Symmetric Rubber Bumpers

open access: yesStrojniški vestnik – Journal of Mechanical Engineering, 2014
The rubber bumpers built into the air-spring structures of buses perform a number of critical tasks. Consequently, designing their shape requires considerable effort. This paper presents a novel solution for determining the required characteristics of axi-symmetric rubber parts, which can efficiently be used in practice.

Workflow for Design of Experiments‐Based Modeling of Species Transport and Growth Kinetics in GaN Hydride Vapor Phase Epitaxy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A novel workflow for investigating hydride vapor phase epitaxy for GaN bulk crystal growth is proposed. It combines Design of experiments (DoE) with physical simulations of mass transport and crystal growth kinetics, serving as an intermediate step between DoE and experiments.

An Optimal Class of Symmetric Key Generation Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
It is sometimes required that user pairs in a network share secret information to be used for mutual identification or as a key in a cipher system. If the network is large it becomes impractical or even impossible to store all keys securely at the users.

Optimal Symmetric Rendezvous Search on Three Locations [PDF]

open access: yesMathematics of Operations Research, 2012
In the symmetric rendezvous search game played on n locations two players are initially placed at two distinct locations. The game is played in discrete steps, at each of which each player can either stay where he is or move to a different location. The players share no common labelling of the locations.

Enhanced Strength and Corrosion Resistance of Ti‐13Nb‐12Ta‐10Zr‐4Sn Alloy by Aging Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work systematically investigates the effect of aging treatment on mechanical properties and corrosion behavior of vacuum arc‐melted Ti‐13Nb‐12Ta‐10Zr‐4Sn alloy. Owing to the increased α″ martensite, strength and corrosion resistance were significantly enhanced by aging treatment.

Optimizing packet capture on symmetric multiprocessing machines

open access: yesProceedings. 15th Symposium on Computer Architecture and High Performance Computing, 2004
Traffic monitoring and analysis based on general purpose systems with high speed interfaces, such as Gigabit Ethernet and 10 Gigabit Ethernet, requires carefully designed software in order to achieve the needed performance. One approach to attain such a performance relies on deploying multiple processors.

In Situ Micromechanical Study of Bimodal γ′–γ″ Precipitate Assemblies in Ni–Cr–Al–Nb Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A Ni–Cr–Al–Nb superalloy with a bimodal γ′–γ″ precipitate distribution is developed. Composite precipitate assemblies form through heterogeneous nucleation, effectively impeding dislocation motion. Micropillar compression reveals high strength at room and elevated temperatures, governed by precipitate shearing, with coupled faulting mechanisms ...

Encyclopedia of 2D β′‐In2Se3 Growth Using Chemical Vapor Deposition: The Effects of Synthesis Parameters Onto Material Quality

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A distinct semi‐confined inner‐tube chemical vapor deposition geometry enables reproducible, large‐area growth of phase‐pure 2D β′‐In2Se3 from InI + Se precursors. Engineering local vapor transport and optimizing precursor delivery and temperature–time conditions yield uniform continuous films.

Exploring Dipolar Dynamics and Ionic Transport in Metal‐Organic Frameworks: Experimental and Theoretical Insights

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, the interplay of dipolar dynamics and ionic charge transport in MOF compounds is investigated. Synthesizing the novel structure CFA‐25 with integrated freely rotating dipolar groups, local and macroscopic effects, including interactions with Cs cations are explored.
