Toughness of Confined Auxetic Foams

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Auxetic (negative Poisson's ratio) materials offer benefits such as impact mitigation, thermal insulation, vibration damping, and reduced shear strain, although their fracture mechanics are largely unexplored. This study investigates damage initiation and propagation in confined re‐entrant auxetic foams from polyurethane via experimental ...

Nonlocal Lagrangian fields and the second Noether theorem. Non-commutative U(1) gauge theory

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
This article focuses on three main contributions. Firstly, we provide an in-depth overview of the nonlocal Lagrangian formalism. Secondly, we introduce an extended version of the second Noether’s theorem tailored for nonlocal Lagrangians.

A Simulative Evaluation of Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Structures in the Context of Elastocaloric Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A simulative evaluation of triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) structures for an elastocaloric application under compressive load is performed. For the evaluation of the structure's performance, surface/volume ratio, generated heat and invested mechanical work are taken into account and are compared to a tube as a reference specimen.

Optimal geometry for a quartz multipurpose SPM sensor

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Nanotechnology, 2013
We propose a geometry for a piezoelectric SPM sensor that can be used for combined AFM/LFM/STM. The sensor utilises symmetry to provide a lateral mode without the need to excite torsional modes.

The General Linear Cartan Khronon

open access: yesUniverse, 2019
A Cartan geometry of the General Linear symmetry is formulated by dividing out the displacements from the group. The resulting action is quadratic in curvature, polynomial in all the (minimal) variables, and describes an observer space that—in the ...

Remarks on mirror symmetry of Donaldson-Thomas theory for Calabi-Yau 4-folds [PDF]

open access: yes"Tsinghua Lectures in Mathematics", Adv. Lect. Math. 45, (2018), 2015
Motivated by Strominger-Yau-Zaslow's mirror symmetry proposal and Kontsevich's homological mirror symmetry conjecture, we study mirror phenomena (in A-model) of certain results from Donaldson-Thomas theory for Calabi-Yau 4-folds.

Poly(1,4‐anthraquinone) as an Organic Electrode Material: Interplay of the Electronic and Structural Properties due to the Unusual Lone‐Pair‐π Conjugation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
In this study, the unique role of the unusual lone‐pair‐π conjugation mechanism in poly(1,4‐anthraquinone) (P14AQ) is explored as an organic electrode material. Unlike traditional π‐π interactions, P14AQ's conjugation involves lone pairs of oxygen atoms interacting with the π cloud of adjacent units, enabling stable charge transport even with minimal π‐

GAUGE SYMMETRY BREAKING IN A THROAT GEOMETRY [PDF]

open access: yesModern Physics Letters A, 2008
We analyze behavior of D3-branes in BGMPZ throat geometry. We show that although single brane has some of the moduli stabilized multi-brane system tends to expand and form a bound state. Such a system loses non-Abelian gauge symmetry. The described mechanism is an example of gauge symmetry breaking triggered by SUSY breaking.

Internal symmetry in Poincarè gauge gravity

open access: yesNuclear Physics B
We find a large internal symmetry within 4-dimensional Poincarè gauge theory. In the Riemann-Cartan geometry of Poincaré gauge theory the field equation and geodesics are invariant under projective transformation, just as in affine geometry.
