Lie symmetries and CR geometry [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Sciences, 2008
This paper is divided into three parts. Part I develops a general, new theory (inspired by modern CR geometry) of Lie symmetries of completely integrable pde systems, viewed from their associated submanifolds of solutions. Part II constructs general combinatorial formulas for the prolongations of vector fields to jet spaces.

On classification of geometries with SO(2,2) symmetry [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2014
Motivated by the Extremal Vanishing Horizon (EVH) black holes, their near horizon geometry and the EVH/CFT proposal, we construct and classify solutions with (local) SO(2,2) symmetry to four and five dimensional Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton (EMD) theory with positive, zero or negative cosmological constant Lambda, the EMD-$ $ theory, and also $U(1)^4 ...

Hexakis(dimethyl sulfoxide-κO)cobalt(III) trinitrate

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2010
The metal atom of the title salt, [Co(C2H6OS)6](NO3)3, is coordinated by six dimethyl sulfoxide molecules in an octahedral geometry. The metal atom lies on a special position of overline{3} site symmetry.

Symmetries and conformal bridge in Schwarschild-(A)dS black hole mechanics

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
We show that the Schwarzschild-(A)dS black hole mechanics possesses a hidden symmetry under the three-dimensional Poincaré group. This symmetry shows up after having gauge-fixed the diffeomorphism invariance in the symmetry-reduced homogeneous Einstein-Λ

Phase-Sensitive Tetracrystal Pairing-Symmetry Measurements and Broken Time-Reversal Symmetry States of High Tc Superconductors

open access: yes, 2000
A detailed analysis of the symmetric tetracrystal geometry used in phase-sensitive pairing symmetry experiments on high Tc superconductors is carried out for both bulk and surface time-reversal symmetry-breaking states, such as the d+id' and d+is states.

Pseudo-Riemannian structures in Pati-Salam models

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
We discuss the role of the pseudo-Riemannian structure of the finite spectral triple for the family of Pati-Salam models. We argue that its existence is a very restrictive condition that separates leptons from quarks, and restricts the whole family of ...

Locally-homogeneous Riemann-Cartan geometries with the largest symmetry group [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Math. Phys. 65, 072502 (2024)
The symmetry frame formalism is an effective tool for computing the symmetries of a Riemann-Cartan geometry and, in particular, in metric teleparallel geometries. In the case of non-vanishing torsion in a four dimensional Riemann-Cartan geometry, the Minkowski geometry is the only geometry admitting ten affine frame symmetries. Excluding this geometry,

An approach for coherent periodogram averaging of tilt‐series data for improved contrast transfer function estimation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The contrast transfer function (CTF) is an imaging aberration that is a major resolution‐limiting factor in cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM). Precise CTF estimation is key to overcoming this limitation, but is particularly challenging in cryo‐electron tomography (cryo‐ET) data. Here, we present an approach for using geometric information to assist in

The Co-Points of Rays are Cut Points of Upper Level Sets for Busemann Functions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
. We show that the co-rays to a ray in a complete non-compact Finsler manifold contain geodesic segments to upper level sets of Busemann functions. Moreover, we characterise the co-point set to a ray as the cut locus of such level sets.
