Abstract Measures obtained from the full blood count have been shown to vary around a set point, are stable over years, and provide an indication of disease risk and mortality. In this study, we examined the association between sympathetic nerve activity and components of the full blood count.

Changes of Renal Blood Flow Following Various Renal Denervation Procedures in Intact Kidneys of Rabbits Using Colored Microspheres [PDF]
We investigated effects of acute renal denervation procedures on renal hemodynamics in intact kidneys of rabbits. Fifty-one Japanese white male rabbits were used. Renal blood flow (RBF) was measured by colored microspheres.

Subcutaneous nerve activity and mechanisms of sudden death in a rat model of chronic kidney disease [PDF]
BACKGROUND: The mechanisms of sudden death in chronic kidney disease (CKD) remain unclear. OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to test the hypotheses that subcutaneous nerve activity (SCNA) can be used to estimate sympathetic tone in ...

Sympathetic nerve innervation promotes the progression of Epstein‐Barr virus‐positive diffuse large B‐cell lymphoma (EBV+ DLBCL) via β2‐adrenergic receptors. The discovery of enhanced nerve infiltration and β2AR expression reveals a novel mechanism and highlights the sympathetic–β2AR axis as a promising target for therapeutic intervention in EBV+ DLBCL.

Sympathectomy potentiates the vasoconstrictor response to nitric oxide synthase inhibition in humans [PDF]
Objective: Nitric oxide exerts its cardiovascular actions at least in part by modulation of the sympathetic vasoconstrictor tone. There is increasing evidence that nitric oxide inhibits central neural sympathetic outflow, and preliminary evidence ...

Deciphering the skeletal interoceptive circuitry to control bone homeostasis
This review introduces the skeletal interoceptive circuitry, covering the ascending signals from bone tissues to the brain (sensors), the central neural circuits that integrate this information and dispatch commands (CPU), and the descending pathways that regulate bone homeostasis (effectors).

Macro‐ and Microanatomy of the Sympathetic Innervation of the Spleen in Rodents
The multi‐compartmental organization of spleen‐projecting neurons—from the celiac ganglia to the spleen—complicates anatomical identification. We provide a dissection guide, characterize their microstructure, and use neuronal tracing to validate the celiac ganglia–spleen connection while demonstrating that these neurons can be transduced by a viral ...

Awake one stage bilateral thoracoscopic sympathectomy for palmar hyperhidrosis: a safe outpatient procedure [PDF]
OBJECTIVE: To verify the feasibility and compare the results of thoracoscopic sympathectomy under local anaesthesia (LA) and spontaneous breathing vs. general anaesthesia (GA) with one-lung ventilation.

Iatrogenic pulsus alternans in a dog undergoing median sternotomy
Abstract A 6‐year‐old, 21.8 kg, female, spayed Siberian husky was referred for management of a spontaneous bilateral pneumothorax, due to a ruptured pulmonary bleb. During surgery, sterile saline was instilled on three occasions in order to locate the damaged lung tissue and ensure complete ligation.
