The anther oil of Symphonia globulifera L.f. (Clusiaceae)

open access: yesBiochemical Systematics and Ecology, 2013
AbstractThe chemical composition of the oil on the anthers of Symphonia globulifera L. f., in which the pollen grains are completely immersed, was investigated. An unsaturated fatty acid methyl ester (methyl nervonate), very rare in plants, was found to be the only component of the oil.

Antiplasmodial benzophenone derivatives from the root barks of Symphonia globulifera (Clusiaceae)

open access: yesPhytochemistry, 2010
In an effort to find antimalarial drugs, a systematic in vitro evaluation on a chloroquine-resistant strain of Plasmodium falciparum (FcB1) was undertaken on sixty plant extracts collected in French Guiana. The ethyl acetate extract obtained from the root barks of Symphonia globulifera exhibited a strong antiplasmodial activity (97% at 10 microg/ml ...

Mapping Radial,Tangential and Longitudinal Shrinkages and Relation to Tension Wood in Discs of the Tropical Tree Symphonia globulifera [PDF]

open access: yesHolzforschung, 2003
Summary A method for measuring shrinkage resulting from drying in the three anisotropic directions is developed and tested. Measurements are performed on sawn discs, a technique which simplifies preparation and enables large numbers of measurements. Shrinkage values can be represented as a map of the disc surface.

Comparative phylogeography of five widespread tree species: Insights into the history of western Amazonia

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 9, Issue 12, Page 7333-7345, June 2019., 2019
Our study includes thorough and relatively uniform sampling of populations of five widespread western Amazonian tree species across a wide geographic area covering most of western Amazonia. As such, it is the first comparative phylogeographic study of the trees of western Amazonia, which houses the world's most species‐rich forests.
