This study conducts the first comprehensive morphological investigation of the mandibular symphysis in whales. Using gross anatomical observation and CT cross‐sectional data, we describe diverse joint morphologies across 74 extant and fossil cetacean taxa. Toothed whales exhibit unfused, partially fused, or fully fused symphyses.

Clustering crocodylian dental morphology: Insights into functional adaptations, diet, and ontogeny
Extant crocodylians may be divided into five clusters based on the residuals of four linear dental measurements (y‐axes) and their variation along the jaw (x‐axes). These clusters correlate to snout shape, prey preference, and feeding ecology, particularly prey size and the degree of processing necessary. Multiple families and subfamilies were found in

The wide gape of snakes: A comparison of the developing mandibular symphysis in sauropsids
Our analysis explores the adaptations at the mandibular symphysis required to allow extreme lower jaw mobility in macrostomate snakes taking a comparative approach. Abstract The origin and evolution of snakes has been marked by the acquisition of many morphological and functional novelties, one of which is the possession of a highly kinetic skull ...

Macroscopical and histological characterization of the perineal membrane and deep perineal pouch
The existence of the deep transverse perineal muscle remains controversial. While the macroscopic appearance of the tissue in the deep perineal pouch differs between men and women, the differences in the histological composition of this fibromuscular plate is still unclear.
