Symplectic Resolutions for Conical Symplectic Varieties [PDF]
We introduce the notion of a conical symplectic variety, and show that any symplectic resolution of such a variety is isomorphic to the Springer resolution of a nilpotent orbit in a semisimple Lie algebra, composed with a linear projection.

Symplectic Groupoids of Log Symplectic Manifolds [PDF]
A log symplectic manifold is a Poisson manifold which is generically nondegenerate. We develop two methods for constructing the symplectic groupoids of log symplectic manifolds. The first is a blow-up construction, corresponding to the notion of an elementary modification of a Lie algebroid along a subalgebroid.

This article is an overview of the results obtained in recent years on symplectic connections. We present what is known about preferred connections (critical points of a variational principle). The class of Ricci-type connections (for which the curvature is entirely determined by the Ricci tensor) is described in detail, as well as its far-reaching ...

SYMPLECTIC SURFACES IN SYMPLECTIC 4-MANIFOLDS
Let \(X\) be a closed, minimal, symplectic 4-manifold with symplectic form \(\omega,\) and \(F\) a symplectic surface in \(X\) satisfying \(c_1(TX)[F] > 0.\) D. McDuff asked whether it follows that \(X\) must be rational or ruled. Partial results have been obtained by \textit{D. McDuff} in [J. Am. Math. Soc. 3, 679-712 (1990; Zbl 0723.53019); J.

On symplectic and non-symplectic automorphisms of K3 surfaces
In this paper we investigate when the generic member of a family of complex K3 surfaces admitting a non-symplectic automorphism of finite order admits also a symplectic automorphism of the same order. We give a complete answer to this question if the order of the automorphism is a prime number and we provide several examples and ...

A Coxeter matroid, also called WP-matroid, is a subset \(M\) of the set of cosets \(W/P\) of a Coxeter group \(W\) modulo a parabolic subgroup \(P\) such that \(M\) satisfies a certain maximality condition. More precisely, for each \(w\in W\) there is an element \(x\in M\) such that for all \(y\in M\) the element \(w^{-1}y\) precedes or equals \(w^{-1 ...

Aperture referral in dioptric systems with stigmatic elements
A previous paper develops the general theory of aperture referral in linear optics and shows how several ostensibly distinct concepts, including the blur patch on the retina, the effective corneal patch, the projective field and the field of view, are ...
