Symptoms of pharyngeal/esophageal diseases are mainly related to swallowing function, e.g., dysphagia, aspiration, globus sensation or heartburn. Dysphagia and aspiration may lead to malnutrition, potentially life-threatening pulmonary complications (e.g., aspiration pneumonia) and impairment of life-quality.
