Masting effect on canopy greenness and climate response on seed production of Fagus grandifolia subsp. mexicana across the Sierra Madre Oriental, Mexico

open access: yesClimate Change Ecology, 2021
Specific proximate mechanisms as climate spatial fluctuations modify the pattern of synchronic reproduction (masting) or seed production at population level in the Fagus genus worldwide.

Historia de una excepción perfecta

open access: yesRecherches, 2019
In this study, we carry out a detailed analysis of current grammatical variation phenomena related to the Spanish pretérito perfecto compuesto (present perfect) which we consider to be a major grammaticalization process, as we will show.

Perceptual effects of lexical competition on Cantonese tone categories

open access: yesLaboratory Phonology, 2023
Speech perception can be shaped by factors such as lexical competition, synchronic variation, and language dominance. Listeners can use lexical information to categorize sounds and recognize words, but systematic variation may act to neutralize lexical ...

Locationals in Oromo

open access: yesStudies in African Linguistics, 2012
This is a study of the locational structures of Oromo. A range of syntactic constructions types is considered within a single synchronic grammaticalization schema. Speaker choices of particular structures within discourse are also identified and explored.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Collective frequency variation in network synchronization and reverse PageRank

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2016
A wide range of natural and engineered phenomena rely on large networks of interacting units to reach a dynamical consensus state where the system collectively operates. Here we study the dynamics of self-organizing systems and show that for generic directed networks the collective frequency of the ensemble is not the same as the mean of the ...

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.
