Modulating excitation/inhibition balance through transcranial electrical stimulation: physiological mechanisms in animal models

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience
The balance between excitatory and inhibitory (E/I) activity is a fundamental property of neural circuits, ensuring precise information processing and preventing pathological states such as hyperexcitability or network silencing.

Cortico-muscular coupling and motor performance are modulated by 20 Hz transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) in Parkinson’s disease

open access: yesFrontiers in Human Neuroscience, 2014
Parkinson’s disease (PD) is associated with pathologically altered oscillatory activity. While synchronized oscillations between 13 and 30 Hz are increased within a cortico-subcortical network, cortico-muscular coupling is decreased.

Development and implementation of a LabVIEW based SCADA system for a meshed multi-terminal VSC-HVDC grid scaled platform [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This project is oriented to the development of a Supervisory, Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) software to control and supervise electrical variables from a scaled platform that represents a meshed HVDC grid employing National Instruments hardware ...

Modularizing and Specifying Protocols among Threads

open access: yes, 2013
We identify three problems with current techniques for implementing protocols among threads, which complicate and impair the scalability of multicore software development: implementing synchronization, implementing coordination, and modularizing ...

Examination of load effects of an alternating current synchronous hydraulic drive

open access: yesMultidiszciplináris Tudományok
Alternating current hydraulic systems can be divided into two large groups based on the electrical analogy: synchronous alternating current hydraulic drives and asynchronous alternating current hydraulic drives. The three main building units of alternating current systems are a hydromotor, a hydrogenerator and a phase space connecting the two main ...

Multi‐Material Gradient Printing Using Meniscus‐enabled Projection Stereolithography (MAPS)

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 10, Issue 6, March 18, 2025.
MAPS is a new vat‐free printing technique that utilizes programmed delivery of resin droplets with custom formulations to enable multi‐material gradient printing of 3D structures with user‐defined variations in mechanical stiffness, opacity, surface energy, cell densities, and magnetic properties. Abstract Light‐based additive manufacturing methods are

A Sleeve Alters the Pressure‐Stretch Curve of a Hyperelastic Balloon to Enable Pre‐Programmed Sequencing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 10, Issue 6, March 18, 2025.
This article demonstrates that encasing a hyperelastic balloon in an inextensible sleeve greatly increases its burst pressure. This simple mechanical behavior can be used to produce an asymmetric inflation‐deflation sequence for coupled balloons with different thicknesses so they could serve as a soft robot's rear and front anchors when driven from a ...

Synchronization of spin-transfer oscillators driven by stimulated microwave currents

open access: yes, 2005
We have simulated the non-linear dynamics of networks of spin-transfer oscillators. The oscillators are magnetically uncoupled but electrically connected in series.

Untethered Magnetic Microswimmers for Targeted Particle Transport and Flow Manipulation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This work introduces magnetically actuated microswimmers to dynamically reconfigure fluid flow within a single microfluidic device. Multiple homogeneous microswimmers are independently controlled by an external magnetic field to perform translational and rotational motions, thereby inducing real‐time flow manipulation.
