A Q‐Learning Algorithm to Solve the Two‐Player Zero‐Sum Game Problem for Nonlinear Systems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, Volume 39, Issue 3, Page 566-581, March 2025.
A Q‐learning algorithm to solve the two‐player zero‐sum game problem for nonlinear systems. ABSTRACT This paper deals with the two‐player zero‐sum game problem, which is a bounded L2$$ {L}_2 $$‐gain robust control problem. Finding an analytical solution to the complex Hamilton‐Jacobi‐Issacs (HJI) equation is a challenging task.

Parallel operation of virtual synchronous generators and synchronous generators in a microgrid

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2018
Aiming for integration of a large‐scale of distributed generators (DGs) such as photovoltaic into the microgrids, the virtual synchronous generator (VSG) control concept has been developed. By this concept, DGs based on inverters can exhibit the characteristics of synchronous generators (SGs) such as the inertial, damping, and droop functions and can ...

PASTA‐ELN: Simplifying Research Data Management for Experimental Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Research data management faces ongoing hurdles as many ELNs remain complex and restrictive. PASTA‐ELN offers an open‐source, cross‐platform solution that prioritizes simplicity, offline access, and user control. Its in tuitive folder structure, modular Python add‐ons, and open formats enable seamless documentation, FAIR data practices, and easy ...

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

On randomized generation of slowly synchronizing automata

open access: yesCoRR, 2018
Motivated by the randomized generation of slowly synchronizing automata, we study automata made of permutation letters and a merging letter of rank $ n\!-\!1 $. We present a constructive randomized procedure to generate synchronizing automata of that kind with (potentially) large alphabet size based on recent results on \textit{primitive} sets of ...

Soft Mechanical‐Electrical Logic Using Liquid Metal‐Filled 3D‐Printed Architectures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present 3D‐printed soft mechanical–electrical logic elements that use liquid metal–filled silicone tubes actuated by thermoplastic polyurethane/polylactic acid (TPU/PLA) architectures to produce Boolean operations. Complementary normally open and normally closed unit cells perform repeatable binary transitions and can be combined into more complex ...

Power Compatibility of Induction Motors in Industrial Grids Containing Synchronous Generators

open access: yesEnergies
Starting an induction motor causes voltage sag in the industrial grid that may disturb the operation of grid equipment. Direct-on-line starting is the simplest and most cost-effective method for starting induction motors, but also the most problematic ...

Experimental Characterization and Constitutive Modeling of the Effect of Prior Inelastic Strain on the Viscoplastic Behavior of AD730 at 700 °C

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows that superalloys used in aircraft engine disks become much more prone to deformation at high temperatures if they have been strained during manufacturing. This effect increases with the level of prior strain but eventually reaches a limit.
