Sensorless control of synchronous reluctance motors

2017 IEEE Transportation Electrification Conference and Expo, Asia-Pacific (ITEC Asia-Pacific), 2017
A new sensorless control method for synchronous reluctance motor(SynRM) is proposed. The speed and rotor position estimation are based on the stator voltage equation. The speed is estimated using the stator voltage and current. The rotor position is obtained by the speed integral.

Reluctance synchronous motors modelling and analysis

2012 International Conference on Applied and Theoretical Electricity (ICATE), 2012
This paper presents a possibility for the theoretical and experimental modelling and analysis of the reluctance synchronous motors asynchronous starting. In the first part of the paper the two axes theory mathematical model of the reluctance synchronous motor is presented.

Position-controlled synchronous reluctance motor without rotational transducer

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 1998
This paper presents a position sensorless control scheme of a synchronous reluctance motor (SynRM) combining a high-frequency current injection method in the low-speed region and the flux estimation method based on the stator voltages in the high-speed region.

Magnetic analysis of flux barriers Synchronous Reluctance Motors

2008 18th International Conference on Electrical Machines, 2008
Aim of the paper is to propose an analytical procedure that can be employed during the sizing of the synchronous reluctance motor with ldquoflux barriersrdquo rotor for motor performance prediction and could represent an alternative to the Finite Element approach.

Experimental comparison of PM assisted synchronous reluctance motors

2014 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE), 2014
The aim of this paper is to show the results of various experimental tests carried out on synchronous reluctance (REL) motors with different rotor geometries, as proposed in technical literature. The impact of the assistance of ferrite permanent-magnet (PM) inset in the flux barriers is considered: PM-assisted REL motors are compared with synchronous ...

Design criteria of high performance synchronous reluctance motors

Conference Record of the 1992 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting, 2003
The main problems related to the design of a synchronous reluctance servomotor are examined. The most suitable rotor structure is identified among different alternatives. A simplified but general algorithm is found for calculating the internal optimized anisotropy ratio.

Synchronous Reluctance and PM Assisted Reluctance Motors

2016
This chapter focuses on the key notions about analysis and design of synchronous reluctance and permanent magnet assisted synchronous reluctance motors. The aim is to highlight not only the advantages of such machines but also some drawbacks of theirs, such as the low power factor and the torque ripple.

Torque Harmonic Compensation in a Synchronous Reluctance Motor

IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 2006
The torque behavior of a synchronous reluctance motor [including the permanent magnet (PM) assisted configuration] is deeply analyzed. An analytical model is developed, showing the dependence of the torque ripple on the rotor geometry. The results of this model allow to individuate the position of the flux--barrier ends so as to minimize the torque ...

Pulsating losses in synchronous reluctance motor

Seventh International Conference on Electrical Machines and Drives, 1995
The aim of this paper is to calculate the pulsating losses at laminated pole-faces in synchronous reluctance motors. To determine these losses, it is necessary to calculate the values of magnetic flux density on both sides of the air gap: near the rotor surface and near the stator surface.

CAPACITOR BRAKING OF SYNCHRONOUS RELUCTANCE MOTORS

Electric Machines & Power Systems, 1993
ABSTRACT Capacitor braking, a well-known low-loss braking method of Induction ma-chines, Is described in connection with reluctance machines. To represent the main features of capacitor braking of synchronous reluc-tance motors, three dimenslonless quantities are introduced: a frequency parameter, a reactance parameter and a resistance parameter.
