Superior Adhesion of Monolayer Amorphous Carbon to Copper

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The adhesion energy of monolayer amorphous carbon on copper substrate is 85 J m−2, 13 times higher than that of graphene due to covalent‐like bonding between the sp2 carbon structure to copper. X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), near‐edge X‐ray absorption (NEXAFS), and (density functional theory) DFT calculations are used to elucidate the ...

Superstoichiometric reversible and manipulable copper-ion intercalation in niobium selenide

open access: yesNature Communications
Few-layer stacked niobium selenide (NbSe2) has evoked great interest owing to its intrinsically exotic properties and accessible manipulation by controlled ion intercalation for superconductivity physics and advanced device applications.

High‐Performance Electrocatalysts of Potassium Lactate Oxidation for Hydrogen and Solid Potassium Acetate Production

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 13, April 2, 2025.
Potassium lactate, produced from polylactic acid plastic waste, is oxidized to potassium acetate on an anode using Ni(Co)OOH as the electrocatalyst, while hydrogen is simultaneously generated at the cathode, through a highly efficient industrial‐scale electrolysis system.

Influence of Ion Size on Structure and Redox Chemistry in Na‐Rich and Li‐Rich Disordered Rocksalt Battery Cathodes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The larger ion size of Na+ versus with Li+ has a pronounced impact on the intercalation chemistry of disordered rocksalt cathode materials. On charge, the disordered rocksalt structure is retained in Li2MnO2F but it is lost in Na2MnO2F resulting in extensive amorphization.

Evolution of the structural phase and orientation in ultrathin SrRuO3 film with SrTiO3 capping layer

open access: yesScientific Reports
In a perovskite oxide of $$\text {ABO}_3$$ , the $$\text {BO}_6$$ octahedral rotation and tilting are known to result in a structural distortion and transform the crystalline structure to a lower symmetry phase, such as the tetragonal phase (T-phase) and

Anisotropy in the thermal hysteresis of resistivity and charge density wave nature of single crystal SrFeO3-δ: X-ray absorption and photoemission studies

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
The local electronic and atomic structures of the high-quality single crystal of SrFeO3-δ (δ~0.19) were studied using temperature-dependent x-ray absorption and valence-band photoemission spectroscopy (VB-PES) to investigate the origin of anisotropic ...

Water Oxidation to Hydrogen Peroxide Over a Super‐Aerophilic Graphite Catalyst

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Design of super‐aerophilic graphite catalyst capable of trapping in situ produced oxygen gas on its surface under the electrolyte environment. By so doing, it is able to moderate intermediate species binding, which is critical to enabling the two‐electron water oxidation reaction to hydrogen peroxide.

Controlled Formation of Skyrmion Bags

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates stabilization of complex magnetic skyrmion bags in ferromagnetic thin films through precisely engineered anisotropy defects using ion irradiation. The researchers achieve controlled field‐ and laser‐induced generation of skyrmionia, target skyrmions, and higher‐order skyrmion bags at room temperature. This reliable platform opens
