Syncope in young [PDF]

open access: yesHeart Asia, 2014
A 34-year-old woman presented with recurrent syncope. Electrocardiogram revealed complete heart block. Dual-chamber pacemaker was implanted. Two months later she returned with recurrent syncope. Pacemaker was functioning normally, but she had repeated episodes of ventricular tachycardia (VT).

Bubble Formation Control: Fabrication of Centimeter‐Sized Tissue‐Like Constructs by Catalase‐Coated Oxygen‐Releasing Hydrogel

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Oxygen‐releasing hydrogels are widely used to support cell survival in 3D cultures and to promote wound healing. However, incorporating catalase to convert H2O2 into O2 often generates additional oxygen bubbles, leading to material instability which rarely addressed.

Syncope and the risk of sudden cardiac death: Evaluation, management, and prevention

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, 2017
Syncope is a clinical syndrome defined as a relatively brief self-limited transient loss of consciousness (TLOC) caused by a period of inadequate cerebral nutrient flow. Most often the trigger is an abrupt drop of systemic blood pressure.

When Poor Exciton Dissociation Limits Photocurrents in Organic Solar Cells: Why Low Offset Non‐Fullerene Acceptor Blends Can't Be Efficient

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The energetic offset between the donor and the acceptor components in organic photoactive layers is central to the tradeoff between photovoltage and photocurrent losses. This Perspective covers the most important issues surrounding this topic in non‐fullerene acceptor blends, from the difficulty of accurately determining state energies and driving ...

Photocatalytic Water Splitting on the Lunar Surface: Prospects for In Situ Resource Utilization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Water has been found in craters on the moon nearby locations which are illuminated >80% of the time. Photocatalysis uses energy from sunlight to drive chemical reactions such as water splitting to produce oxygen and hydrogen. It is a scalable technology that requires lighter equipment and utilizes resources available on the moon. ABSTRACT The discovery

Recurrent Syncope in Patients With Reflex Syncope Treated With Dual‐Chamber Pacemakers: Short‐Term Associated Factors—A Single‐Center Retrospective Study

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia
Background Dual‐chamber pacemakers equipped with anti‐reflex syncope algorithms are an established therapeutic option for preventing recurrent syncope in selected patients with reflex syncope. However, their efficacy in patients under 40 years old and in
