إنّ اللّغة العربيّة لغة ترادف، حيث شاع للمسمّى الواحد أسماء كثيرة، ولكن هناك مَن أنكر وجود هذه الظّاهرة (التّرادف)، وذهب إلى أنّ هذه الأسماء وإن كانت تظهر أنّها مترادفة، فكلّ اسم منها يدلّ على معنى لا يوجد فيما يظنّ أنّه مرادف له.
