A Synoptic Reporting System for Peripheral Blood Smear Interpretation [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Clinical Pathology, 2011
AbstractWeb-based synoptic reporting systems have been shown to improve efficiency, reduce turnaround time, and decrease reporting errors in reports of surgical pathology specimens and hematologic neoplasms and bone marrow. No such system has been previously described for the reporting of peripheral blood smears.

The Synoptic Patterns Associated with Spring Widespread Dusty Days in Central and Eastern Saudi Arabia

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2014
Four synoptic regimes were identified as accompanying the widespread dust in central and eastern Saudi Arabia. The widespread cases of dust were classified based on the value and spread of the aerosol index data from the TOMS aerosol index (TOMS AI ...

Synoptic reporting accuracy for computed tomography pulmonary arteriography among patients suspected of pulmonary embolism

open access: yesJournal of the American College of Emergency Physicians Open, 2022
Background Structured reporting is an efficient and replicable method of presenting diagnostic results that eliminates variability inherent in narrative descriptive reporting and may improve clinical decisions.

Do Extratropical Cyclones Impact Synoptic‐Scale Variability of the Arctic Oscillation During Cold Season? [PDF]

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
The Arctic Oscillation (AO) is the most significant mode of sea level pressure (SLP) anomalies in the Northern Hemisphere, exhibiting significant multiple‐timescale variability from synoptic to decadal.

Associations between ozone and morbidity using the Spatial Synoptic Classification system [PDF]

open access: yesEnvironmental Health, 2011
Background Synoptic circulation patterns (large-scale tropospheric motion systems) affect air pollution and, potentially, air-pollution-morbidity associations.

Web-based synoptic reporting for cancer checklists

open access: yesJournal of Pathology Informatics, 2011
Background: The surgical pathology report remains the primary source for information to guide the treatment of patients with cancer. Failure to report critical elements in a cancer report is an increasing problem in pathology because of the heightened ...

The Oncologist’s Guide to Synoptic Reporting: A Primer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Synoptic reporting in tumour pathology is defined by (1) completeness in terms of data elements as well as (2) a specific, laboratory value-like format.

Mountain torques and synoptic systems in the Mediterranean [PDF]

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, 2008
AbstractThe mountains surrounding the Mediterranean exert torques T during the passage of North Atlantic systems which affect the angular momentum of the airflow passing over and around the massifs. The Alps, the Atlas range and the orographic block of Asia Minor are selected to investigate the typical flow conditions during torque events.

TransCom model simulations of hourly atmospheric CO2: Analysis of synoptic-scale variations for the period 2002-2003 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The ability to reliably estimate CO2 fluxes from current in situ atmospheric CO2 measurements and future satellite CO2 measurements is dependent on transport model performance at synoptic and shorter timescales.

Synoptic upper-ocean mixing events in the tropical Atlantic for evaluating Earth system models

open access: yes, 2023
Observational and modelling studies of the mixed layer heat balance in the tropical Atlantic have demonstrated the importance of vertical turbulent mixing for generating seasonal cooling of sea surface temperature (SST) (e.g.
