Innervation of synovial membrane and meniscus

Acta Orthopaedica Scandinavica, 1985
Substance P-immunofluorescent nerves, which are closely connected to pain transmission, were shown in human knee synovial membrane and menisci. Both tissues also contained enkephalin-immunofluorescent nerves, which are probably involved in the modulation of pain transmission.

Percutaneous Biopsy of the Synovial Membrane

Seminars in Musculoskeletal Radiology, 1997
Techniques of percutaneous synovial biopsy under fluoroscopic control of large joints of the limbs (other than the knee) may be useful in arthritis of undetermined etiology especially when infection is considered. Main technical refinements include adequate selection of an optimal approach and biopsy site using new imaging methods, use of a Tru-Cut(R ...

Structure of Synovial Membrane of Sheep

American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1973
SUMMARY Synovial membranes from 5 normal lambs were studied by light and electron microscopy. Three variations of synovium were identified in individual joints. Fibrous synovium was composed of lining cells resembling fibrocytes superimposed on electron-dense connective tissue.

Synovial membrane: percutaneous biopsy.

Radiology, 1990
With use of fluoroscopy, new techniques of percutaneous synovial biopsy (PSB) of large joints of limbs (other than the knee) were developed. PSB was performed on outpatients with the use of local anesthesia. Eighty-four biopsies (hip, 57; shoulder, 10; elbow, six; wrist, five; and ankle, six) were performed.

FIBRINOLYTIC ACTIVITY IN THE SYNOVIAL MEMBRANE OF OSTEOARTHRITIS

Rheumatology, 1990
The fibrinolytic activity (FA) has been studied on the synovial membrane obtained from 16 patients with osteoarthritis (OA), 20 patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and 11 control subjects. Todd's autohistographic method, modified by Lotti, was used to investigate the FA and the monoclonal antibodies against u-PA and t-PA were used to identify the ...

Isozymes of amino acid naphthylamidase in the synovial membrane and in synovial fluid

Clinica Chimica Acta, 1973
Abstract Two isozymes (isozyme 1 and 2) of amino acid naphthylamidase were detected by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis in extracts from normal synovial membrane tissue. Isozyme 1 had the same electrophoretic mobility as a component occurring in synovial fluid and as the main serum component.

The effect of contrast media on the synovial membrane

European Journal of Radiology, 2005
To examine the effect of intra-articular injection of contrast media, sorbitol and normal saline on the synovial membrane.Sixty three rabbits (126 knees) were used in this study. We injected the knees with amidotrizoate, ioxaglate, iopamidol, iotrol and diluted gadolinium-DTPA (2 mmol/l). Normal saline and sorbitol 27.25% were used for comparison.

THE SYNOVIAL MEMBRANE OF THE KNEE IN PATHOLOGICAL CONDITIONS

The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery, 1949
This study permits us to define the cellular behavior of the synovial membrane to various irritants. In meniscal tears it is of mechanical nature, in hemarthroses it is of chemical nature (endogenous proteins), and in villous arthritis it is of an allergic nature (phenomenon of Arthus).

Structure of Synovial Membrane in Rheumatoid Arthritis

1972
Since the investigations of Hueter (1866), Hagen-Torn (1882) and Hammar (1894) the synovial membrane has been regarded as a layer of modified connective tissue cells. Consequently, in contrast to some concepts (Bichat, 1806; Tillmann, 1877; Aschoff, 1919; Kaufman, 1922), the nature of the synovial cells as connective tissue elements is no longer ...
