Biocatalytic Nanoregulators Restore Joint Redox‐Immune Homeostasis in Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mesenchymal stem cell‐derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) coat ruthenium‐loaded metal‐organic frameworks (Ru@ZrMOF), creating a targeted therapeutic (Ru@ZrMOF/EVs). This platform scavenges ROS, generates oxygen, and polarizes macrophages from M1 to M2, alleviating inflammation, inhibiting pannus, promoting cartilage repair, and downregulating HIF‐1α ...

Validity and diagnostic performance of fluorescence optical imaging measuring synovitis in hand osteoarthritis: baseline results from the Nor-Hand cohort

open access: yesArthritis Research & Therapy, 2020
Objective Fluorescence optical imaging (FOI) demonstrates enhanced microcirculation in finger joints as a sign of inflammation. We wanted to assess the validity and diagnostic performance of FOI measuring synovitis in persons with hand OA, comparing it ...

Development and validation of cuproptosis-related genes in synovitis during osteoarthritis progress

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2023
Osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the most common refractory degenerative joint diseases worldwide. Synovitis is believed to drive joint cartilage destruction during OA pathogenesis. Cuproptosis is a novel form of copper-induced cell death.

Targeted Inhibition of CD74+ Macrophages by Luteolin via CEBPB/P65 Signaling Ameliorates Osteoarthritis Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies CD74⁺ macrophages as key drivers of synovial inflammation in osteoarthritis (OA). The flavonoid luteolin is predicted to inhibit this pathway by blocking Nuclear Factor Kappa‐light‐chain‐enhancer of Activated B cells (NF‐κB) signaling. To enhance delivery, a targeted nanoplatform (MDSPL) is developed.

Arthroscopic assessment of stifle synovitis in dogs with cranial cruciate ligament rupture. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Cranial cruciate ligament rupture (CR) is a degenerative condition in dogs that typically has a non-contact mechanism. Subsequent contralateral rupture often develops in dogs with unilateral CR.

Multi‐Omics Reveal the Dysregulated Gut‐Joint Axis in Knee Synovitis: Data from Two Osteoarthritis Studies in China

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The “gut‐joint axis” in knee synovitis is uncovered. Integrated multi‐omics studies are conducted in two independent osteoarthritis cohorts. Synovitis is characterized an increased F/B ratio, as well as alterations of 3‐HIA, geranic acid, and TWEAK. Upregulated TWEAK receptor is found in high‐grade synovitis, and inversely correlated with lower TWEAK ...

CircTspan3 Promotes Cartilage Development Through ANNEXIN A2‐Mediated Ferroptosis and Apoptosis Inhibition and Exosome‐Mediated Paracrine Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that XBP1s drives production of circTspan3, a circular RNA that strengthens cartilage by boosting anabolic activity and limiting cell death. Phosphorylated ANXA2 directs circTspan3 into exosomes, enabling paracrine repair. Exosomal circTspan3 expands growth‐plate cartilage and promotes in vivo regeneration, highlighting its promise ...

Hidradenitis suppurativa with SAPHO syndrome maintained effectively with adalimumab, methotrexate, and intralesional corticosteroid injections

open access: yesSAGE Open Medical Case Reports, 2018
Introduction: Hidradenitis suppurativa and synovitis, acne, pustulosis, hyperostosis, osteitis syndrome are chronic, debilitating diseases involving apocrine gland-bearing skin inflammation and bone inflammation, respectively. Although both often present

Synovial Fluid‐derived Micrococcus Luteus G18 Exacerbates Osteoarthritis Progression by Promoting Chondrocyte Degradation via TLR2/JNK/AP‐1 Signaling Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Traditionally considered sterile, the articular cavity is now recognized to harbor microbial communities influencing osteoarthritis (OA). Integrating 16S rRNA sequencing and culturomics, Micrococcus luteus is enriched in advanced OA. Notably, M. luteus G18 exacerbates cartilage degeneration via TLR2/JNK/AP‐1‐mediated ECM disruption, revealing intra ...

Do Dynamic Plantar Pressures Differ Based on Sonographic Evidence of Metatarsophalangeal Joint Synovitis in People With Rheumatoid Arthritis?

open access: yesACR Open Rheumatology
Objective The metatarsophalangeal joints (MTPJs) are the most common location for synovitis in people with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), yet their association with plantar foot pressures has received very little attention.
