Problems Caused by Semantic Drift in WordNet Synset Construction

open access: yes2019 4th International Conference on Computer Science and Engineering (UBMK), 2019
In this study, we summarize the semantic drift problem that occur in specific synsets of KeNet, a Turkish WordNet, which is caused by mis-merging of semantically-related lexical items, morphological markings and false part of speech (POS) matchings.

Probabilistic SynSet Based Concept Location

open access: yesSlate, 2012
Concept location is a common task in program comprehension techniques, essential in many approaches used for software care and software evolution. An important goal of this process is to discover a mapping between source code and human oriented concepts.

Synset Boulevard: A Synthetic Image Dataset for VMMR*

2024 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA)
We present and discuss the Synset Boulevard dataset, designed for the task of surveillance-nature vehicle make and model recognition (VMMR)—to the best of our knowledge the first entirely synthetically generated large-scale VMMR image dataset.

Language-specific Synsets and Challenges in Synset Linkage in Urdu WordNet

, 2017
The Urdu WordNet is being developed following the process used to develop the Hindi WordNet by using the Expansion Approach. This paper, in the first part, presents some of our experiences that we gathered in the process of building the Urdu WordNet as a part of the IndoWordNet.

Add-Remove-Confirm: Crowdsourcing synset cleansing

2015 9th International Conference on Application of Information and Communication Technologies (AICT), 2015
Thesaurus is a crucial resource for many natural language processing and artificial intelligence problems, which require common sense reasoning. It is becoming highly topical to put special effort to ensure the high quality of synsets when a thesaurus is created collaboratively by non-expert annotators.

Synset expansion on translation graph for automatic wordnet construction

open access: yesInformation Processing & Management, 2019
Abstract Research on clustering algorithms in synonymy graphs of a single language yields promising results, however, this idea is not yet explored in a multilingual setting. Nevertheless, moving the problem to a multilingual translation graph enables the use of more clues and techniques not possible in a monolingual synonymy graph.

Crowdsourcing synset relations with Genus-Species-Match

2015 Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language and Information Extraction, Social Media and Web Search FRUCT Conference (AINL-ISMW FRUCT), 2015
Enabling a domain-specific lexical resource is useful for improving the performance of a natural language processing system. However, such resources may be represented in the form of glossaries—terms provided with their sense definitions. Despite the problem of integrating such domain-specific glossaries into more sophisticated general purpose ...

Exploiting WordNet Synset and Hypernym Representations for Answer Selection

AACL, 2020
Answer selection (AS) is an important subtask of document-based question answering (DQA). In this task, the candidate answers come from the same document, and each answer sentence is semantically related to the given question, which makes it more ...
