Dense Embeddings Preserving the Semantic Relationships in WordNet [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
In this paper, we provide a novel way to generate low dimensional vector embeddings for the noun and verb synsets in WordNet, where the hypernym-hyponym relationship is preserved in the embeddings. We call this embedding the Sense Spectrum (and Sense Spectra for embeddings).

ShotgunWSD 2.0: An Improved Algorithm for Global Word Sense Disambiguation

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
ShotgunWSD is a recent unsupervised and knowledge-based algorithm for global word sense disambiguation (WSD). The algorithm is inspired by the Shotgun sequencing technique, which is a broadly-used whole genome sequencing approach. ShotgunWSD performs WSD

Extracting Synonyms from Bilingual Dictionaries [PDF]

open access: yesIn Proceedings of the11th International Global Wordnet Conference (GWC2021). (pp. 215-222). Global Wordnet Association. (2021), 2020
We present our progress in developing a novel algorithm to extract synonyms from bilingual dictionaries. Identification and usage of synonyms play a significant role in improving the performance of information access applications. The idea is to construct a translation graph from translation pairs, then to extract and consolidate cyclic paths to form ...

Unsupervised Sense-Aware Hypernymy Extraction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In this paper, we show how unsupervised sense representations can be used to improve hypernymy extraction. We present a method for extracting disambiguated hypernymy relationships that propagates hypernyms to sets of synonyms (synsets), constructs embeddings for these sets, and establishes sense-aware relationships between matching synsets.

Calculated attributes of synonym sets [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
The goal of formalization, proposed in this paper, is to bring together, as near as possible, the theoretic linguistic problem of synonym conception and the computer linguistic methods based generally on empirical intuitive unjustified factors. Using the word vector representation we have proposed the geometric approach to mathematical modeling of ...

Mapping Persian Words to WordNet Synsets

open access: yesInternational Journal of Interactive Multimedia and Artificial Intelligence, 2009
Lexical ontologies are one of the main resources for developing natural language processing and semantic web applications. Mapping lexical ontologies of different languages is very important for inter-lingual tasks. On the other hand mapping approaches can be implied to build lexical ontologies for a new language based on pre ...

A Benchmark and Scoring Algorithm for Enriching Arabic Synonyms [PDF]

open access: yesThe 12th International Global Wordnet Conference (GWC2023), Global Wordnet Association. (pp. ). San Sebastian, Spain, 2023, 2023
This paper addresses the task of extending a given synset with additional synonyms taking into account synonymy strength as a fuzzy value. Given a mono/multilingual synset and a threshold (a fuzzy value [0-1]), our goal is to extract new synonyms above this threshold from existing lexicons. We present twofold contributions: an algorithm and a benchmark
