The Alaska Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Facility Project

open access: yesEos, Transactions American Geophysical Union, 1987
A receiving station for the acquisition and processing of spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data is being established by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. The data that will be received from a number of SAR satellites that are to be launched starting in 1990 will allow U.S ...

Calibration Issue in SMART Synthetic Aperture Radar Based on Scan-On-Receive

open access: yes, 2009
A new spaceborne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) system based on SCan-On-REceive (SCORE) algorithm has been recently proposed in order to overcome the trade-off between spatial resolution and swath wide of current SAR systems. The compound architecture of

Spaceborne Bi- and Multistatic SAR: Potential and Challenges

open access: yes, 2006
Bi- and multistatic synthetic aperture radar (SAR) operates with distinct transmit and receive antennas that are mounted on separate platforms. Such a spatial separation has several operational advantages, which will increase the capability, reliability ...

Polarimetric calibration strategy for long-duration imaging with a ground-based SAR [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The Ground-Based Synthetic Aperture Radar (GB-SAR) facility in the UK provides high-resolution, fully polarimetrically calibrated L- through X-band SAR imagery, principally of targets of remote sensing interest such as soils and vegetation.

Internal Wave Characteristics in the Andaman Sea: New Insights From SWOT Observations

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 10, 28 May 2026.
Abstract High‐resolution, repeat‐pass Sea Surface Height Anomaly (SSHA) observations from the Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) satellite are used to investigate Internal Solitary Waves (ISW) in the Andaman Sea over a one‐year period starting in July 2023. SWOT captured surface signatures of high‐amplitude ISW, with SSHA exceeding 20 cm.

Interseismic, Coseismic, and Early Postseismic Slip Associated With the 2025 Mw 8.8 Kamchatka Earthquake

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 9, 16 May 2026.
Abstract Unraveling the surface deformation and fault kinematics during the seismic cycle is crucial for understanding earthquake physics. Herein, we use geodetic and seismic observations to quantify the interseismic coupling, coseismic rupture, and postseismic afterslip associated with the 2025 Mw 8.8 Kamchatka earthquake.

Desertification Risk: Bibliometric Analysis and Future Research Directions

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, Volume 37, Issue 8, Page 3331-3348, 15 May 2026.
ABSTRACT Desertification, driven by climatic and anthropogenic factors, is one of the most pressing global environmental challenges, causing significant economic, ecological, and social consequences. A bibliometric analysis was performed to identify research trends and gaps in the desertification risk topic.
