Micro scale site diversity over a tropical site in India and evaluation of diversity gain with synthetic storm technique

open access: yes, 2011
211-217An experiment has been conducted to evaluate micro scale site diversity (MSD) at Ahmedabad, a tropical site in India. Rain data is collected by a linear array of tipping bucket rain gauges during 2007 and 2008 monsoon periods. Spatial variation

Targeting Supramolecular Active Complexes of Nav1.7/Nav1.8 to Relieve Chronic Neuropathic Pain

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In mice and patients with severe chronic neuropathic pain (NP), Nav1.7, Nav1.8, TrkB, and five cytoskeletal proteins form supramolecular active complexes (SMACs) with polygonal lattice structures as noxious signal amplifiers in dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons.

Magnetoelectric Nanoparticle‐Based Wireless Brain–Computer Interface: Underlying Physics and Projected Technology Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Magnetoelectric nanoparticles (MENPs) enable fully wireless, minutely invasive neuromodulation, and potentially neural recording, by converting magnetic into electric and, conversely, electric into magnetic fields, respectively, at high spatiotemporal resolution.

Temporal Interference Stimulation Enhances Neural Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Temporal interference (TI) stimulation is proposed as a non‐invasive approach to enhance neural regeneration in the deep brain. Theta‐band TI modulation selectively promotes neural progenitor cell differentiation in vitro and augments hippocampal neurogenesis in amouse model of Alzheimer's disease‐like amyloidosis.

Engineering Microbial Particles for Next‐Generation Biomedical Platforms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Microbe‐derived particles (MDPs), which include extracellular vesicles, outer membrane vesicles, inclusion bodies, polysaccharide particles, and virus‐like particles, represent a rapidly expanding category of bioinspired nanomaterials. With their natural origin, intrinsic biocompatibility, and highly programmable functionality, MDPs serve as a ...

Towards the Efficient Probabilistic Characterization of Tropical Cyclone-Generated Storm Surge Hazards Under Stationary and Nonstationary Conditions

open access: yes, 2009
The scarcity of observations at any single location confounds the probabilistic characterization of tropical cyclone-generated storm surge hazards using annual maxima and peaks-over-threshold methods.

The 2008 Super Tuesday Tornado Outbreak: Synthetic Dual Doppler Analysis of Contrasting Tornadic Storm Types

open access: yes, 2008
During the Super Tuesday Tornado Outbreak on 5-6 February, a significant number of storms passed within about 40 km of WSR-88D radars. This distance, combined with the significant motion vector (from the southwest at 20-25 m per second) of relatively ...

N‐Doping Activated Presodiation Enhances Sodium‐Ion Provision in Hard Carbon Anodes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Introducing pyrrolic‐N sites enables efficient presodiation and stronger PF6− capture, thus pre ‐ forming a robust inorganic‐rich SEI layer in hard carbon anodes. ABSTRACT Hard carbon (HC) is considered the most promising anode material for commercial sodium‐ion batteries (SIBs), yet it still faces critical challenges such as low initial Coulombic ...
