Brillouin suppression through longitudinal structural variation in high nonlinearity silica holey fibers

open access: yes
We consider longitudinal variation in the fiber structure as a method of increasing the Brillouin linewidth and threshold within high nonlinearity silica holey fibers.

Electrospun Core–Shell Bioadhesive Nanofiber Sheets Enable Durable Pulmonary Air Leak Sealing Under Wet and Dynamic Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A core–shell electrospun nanofiber sheet provides strong adhesion and durable sealing on the wet and dynamic lung surface. The engineered fibrous architecture maintains airtight integrity and offers a potential alternative to fibrin sealants for pulmonary air leak management in thoracic surgery.

Short Fibers Distribution Investigation in Fiber Concrete

open access: yes
Steel fiber reinforced high-strength (SFRHSC) concrete post cracking load –bearing capacity (and strength) is dependent on the number of fibers crossing weakest crack (bridged by fibers) and their orientation to particular crack surface.

GDNF‐Enriched Small Extracellular Vesicle‐Loaded ROS‐Scavenging Hydrogel Promotes Neural Regeneration After Spinal Cord Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A glial cell line‐derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF)‐enriched small extracellular vesicle‐loaded reactive oxygen species (ROS)‐scavenging hydrogel integrates sustained neurotrophic delivery with local modulation of oxidative and inflammatory stress after spinal cord injury. The composite hydrogel improves local vesicle retention, protects neural tissue,

Pull-Out Micro-Mechanism for Fibers in Concrete

open access: yes
Applied load is inciting numerous cracks formation in fiber reinforced concrete (FRC) structural member. Fibers are bridging the crack. Fiber pulling out micromechanics is governing the macro-crack opening process. Post cracking load -bearing capacity is
