Ecological scale mediates nonlinear relationships of animal nutrient excretion with dissolved organic matter

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, EarlyView.
We show that nutrient excretion by vertebrates and invertebrates varies nonlinearly with dissolved organic matter concentration and composition and by taxonomic rank, with stronger patterns at the individual compared to the community level. Our findings highlight the importance of examining animal‐mediated nutrient cycling across taxa and ecological ...

Vital events, vital relations: the structure of relations in an identity database Événements vitaux, liens vitaux : la structure des liens dans une base de données d'identité civile

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, EarlyView.
The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) manages Pakistan's biometric‐based national identity database, one of the largest identification systems of its kind in the world. This article examines bureaucratic practices used during identity registration to record ‘vital events’ in the lives of citizens: birth, marriage, divorce, and death.

Dataset from the literature on the ingestive behaviour of grazing ruminants

open access: yesData in Brief
The dataset described in this paper was constructed from 90 publications available from bibliographic databases. It presents the values of various quantitative components of ingestive behaviour of grazing ruminants (bite weight, biting rate, intake rate,

Integrative Psychotherapy of Emotional and Psychosomatic Regulation: Promoting Transformational Processes1

open access: yesJournal of Analytical Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract This article outlines an integrative, trauma‐oriented, polyvagal‐informed framework for psychodynamic psychotherapy. In this approach, patients are inherently motivated to overcome entrenched, repetitive patterns, seeking to restore a sense of safety that was lost during developmental phases.

open access: yesThe Pan African Medical Journal, 2013
Le lupus érythémateux systémique (LES) est une maladie auto-immune multi systémique d'étiologie inconnue. Nous rapportons une manifestation très rare du LES représentée par une choroidopathie bilatérale sans hypertension artérielle associée.

A teleonomic model describing performance (body, milk and intake) during growth and over repeated reproductive cycles throughout the lifespan of dairy cattle. 1. Trajectories of life function priorities and genetic scaling

open access: yesAnimal, 2010
The prediction of the control of nutrient partitioning, particularly energy, is a major issue in modelling dairy cattle performance. The proportions of energy channelled to physiological functions (growth, maintenance, gestation and lactation) change as ...

Fallow Fields, Falling Incomes: The CAP 2023–2027 Framework in the Italian Cereal Sector Champs en jachère, revenus en baisse : Le cadre de la PAC pour 2023–2027 dans le secteur céréalier italien Brachliegende Felder, sinkende Einkommen: Die GAP 2023–2027 im italienischen Getreidesektor

open access: yesEuroChoices, EarlyView.
Summary Analysis of recent Eurostat data shows a progressive decline in EU cereal production. While cultivated acreage has contracted steadily since 2013, the most severe output reduction occurred during 2022–2024, driving a surge in import volumes. This is mirrored in Italy, exposing systemic vulnerabilities within high‐value agri‐food supply chains ...

Advances in predicting nutrient partitioning in the dairy cow: recognizing the central role of genotype and its expression through time

open access: yesAnimal, 2013
In recent years, it has become increasingly clear that understanding nutrient partitioning is central to a much broader range of issues than just being able to predict productive outputs.
