Educating reflective systems developers

Information Systems Journal, 2002
Abstract. Systems development research shows that practitioners seldom follow methods and that the competencies required for successful development of computer‐based systems go well beyond those represented in contemporary methods. These insights make us question the role that methods should play in educating would‐be developers.

Development of metabolic systems

Physiology & Behavior, 2005
In the normal adult rodent and primate, arcuate nucleus (ARH) neurons function as conduits for transmitting metabolic hormonal signals into the hypothalamic circuitry that modulates feeding and energy expenditure. We and others have shown that ARH projections do not fully develop until the 3rd postnatal week in the rodent.

Developing Hypermedia Systems

Journal of Clinical Engineering, 1990
Hypermedia systems allow storage of huge collections of information from a wide variety of sources and afford immediate and random access to the collections. While providing unprecedented possibilities for storing and disseminating information, hypermedia systems have the potential to confuse the developer and the user alike with a multitude of ...

Timers in Developing Systems

Science, 1979
Conditional methods are proposed for investigating the number and relationships of processes that are rate-limiting for the genesis of consecutive stages in a developmental sequence. These methods depend on the differential sensitivity of "timer" pathways to small changes in temperature and can be applied to any developmental sequence in ...

Developing performance-appraisal systems

American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy, 1984
The development and applications of performance-appraisal systems for hospital pharmacy personnel are discussed. The need for a performance-appraisal system is explained from the perspectives of the employee, the manager, and the hospital. Ethical standards that should be considered by managers during the appraisal process are listed.

Development of Behavior Systems

1994
The purpose of this chapter is to present a general framework for studying the development of behavior. The thesis to be defended here is that the building blocks of behavior are various kinds of perceptual, central, and motor components, all of which can exist independently.
