Finding the solution of a linear system of equations is one of the basic problems in numerical algebra. We will develop a verification algorithm for square systems with full matrix based on a Newton-like method for an equivalent fixed-point problem.

We give a rather conventional treatment of the study of a system of linear equations by using the augmented matrix of the system. The so-called LU decomposition of a matrix is introduced, together with the concept of elementary row and column operations and their corresponding matrices.
