Model structure simplification of Nonlinear Systems via immersion
IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 2005This paper concerns the simplification of model structures of nonlinear systems while preserving their input-output maps. The basic technique is an immersion of a system, which is a mapping of the initial state from the original system to another system of an identical input-output map.

For practical automated manufacturing systems, supervisory control techniques (SCTs) are of great significance and should be integrated in their plant models. SCTs are frequently accompanied by supervisor simplification issues. In the past, it is taken for granted that supervisor simplification is associated with systems' structure, because most ...

ORDER REDUCTION & STRUCTURE SIMPLIFICATION FOR NONLINEAR SYSTEMS
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2005Abstract This paper considers the problem of passing from a nonlinear simple-structure model to a low-order approximation by preserving simplicity. The approximation problem is often best posed as an L2 optimization problem. This optimization problem is the core of our order reduction method so-called system matrices optimization.

Logic Expression and Structure Simplification for SFEP of Sensor System
IEEE Sensors Journal, 2021The system consisting of numerous sensors can be abstracted as a network structure with topological properties. Therefore, the safety and reliability of sensor system can be studied based on the abstract topology. In the topology, the nodes represent the sensor and the lines represent the signals transmitted by these sensors.

Abstract Typical recommended current profiles for marine operations can be found in offshore engineering guidelines and standards. However, for some offshore components (e.g. risers, umbilicals, risers) typical simplified current profiles can easily lead to unrealistic and conservative results.

Conditional Filtering for Simplification of Aircraft Structural System Reliability Calculation
49th AIAA/ASME/ASCE/AHS/ASC Structures, Structural Dynamics, and Materials Conference
16th AIAA/ASME/AHS Adaptive Structures Conference
10t, 2008Calculation of system reliability of large-scale aircraft structure is frequently intractable due to the potentially thousands of failure locations, hundreds of load cases and multiple failure modes. Consequently, a probability-based filtering technique – referred to as the Correlation-Conditional Probability (CCP) filtering method – is being developed

Direct integration for non-viscous structural systems and its simplification
Mechanics Research Communications, 2019Abstract Direct integration with Simpson's rule for non-viscous structural systems by using convolution damping model is presented. The non-classical damping model takes the complete velocity history into account through a convolution. This generic time integration method is developed for structural systems with multiple exponential and Gaussian ...

Abstract Known methods of model order reduction generally result in reduced systems with high number of internal interconnections, i.e. the model structures are complex. Starting from the system matrices optimization method, secondary conditions can be formulated to calculate reduced systems with simpler structures.

System simplification using variable structure reduced models
International Journal of Systems Science, 1991A practical method of model reduction for linear systems is proposed. To minimize the order of the reduced plant model and to achieve a very good approximation of the original system, the reduced model of the original system is constructed from two submodels.
