Bayesian inference: more than Bayes’s theorem

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences
Bayesian inference gets its name from Bayes’s theorem, expressing posterior probabilities for hypotheses about a data generating process as the (normalized) product of prior probabilities and a likelihood function.

An Analysis of the Systematic Error of a Remote Method for a Wattmeter Adjustment Gain Estimation in Smart Grids

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
Smart energy meters supporting bidirectional data communication enable novel remote error monitoring applications. This research targets characterization of the systematic worst-case error of the previously published remote watthour meter’s gain ...

Combining antibody conjugates with cytotoxic and immune‐stimulating payloads maximizes anti‐cancer activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Methods to improve antibody–drug conjugate (ADC) treatment durability in cancer therapy are needed. We utilized ADCs and immune‐stimulating antibody conjugates (ISACs), which are made from two non‐competitive antibodies, to enhance the entry of toxic payloads into cancer cells and deliver immunostimulatory agents into immune cells.

Joint position sense error in people with neck pain: A systematic review.

open access: yesManual Therapy, 2015
BACKGROUND Several studies in recent decades have examined the relationship between proprioceptive deficits and neck pain. However, there is no uniform conclusion on the relationship between the two.

Correlation of the differential expression of PIK3R1 and its spliced variant, p55α, in pan‐cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PIK3R1 undergoes alternative splicing to generate the isoforms, p85α and p55α. By combining large patient datasets with laboratory experiments, we show that PIK3R1 spliced variants shape cancer behavior. While tumors lose the protective p85α isoform, p55α is overexpressed, changes linked to poorer survival and more pronounced in African American ...

Incomplete lineage sorting and long-branch attraction confound phylogenomic inference of Pancrustacea

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and Evolution
IntroductionThe phylogenetic relationships within Pancrustacea (including Crustacea and Hexapoda) remain elusive despite analyses using various molecular data sets and analytical approaches over the past decade.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Experimental investigation of the systematic error on photomechanic methods induced by camera self-heating.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2013
The systematic error for photomechanic methods caused by self-heating induced image expansion when using a digital camera was systematically studied, and a new physical model to explain the mechanism has been proposed and verified.

RaMBat: Accurate identification of medulloblastoma subtypes from diverse data sources with severe batch effects

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
To integrate multiple transcriptomics data with severe batch effects for identifying MB subtypes, we developed a novel and accurate computational method named RaMBat, which leveraged subtype‐specific gene expression ranking information instead of absolute gene expression levels to address batch effects of diverse data sources.
