Systematic sampling with errors in sample locations
Systematic sampling of points in continuous space is widely used in microscopy and spatial surveys. Classical theory provides asymptotic expressions for the variance of estimators based on systematic sampling as the grid spacing decreases.

Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

A Review of the Literature of Systematic Sampling
Summary The literature relating to systematic sampling shows the interplay between practical needs and the provision of statistical techniques for their satisfaction. Problems of systematic sampling occur more frequently than is generally realized and, since many of the techniques are still far from satisfactory, the situation offers ...

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Sampling for the Measurement of Structured Surfaces
Structured surfaces are increasingly popular in manufacturing due to their ability to affect the function of a component, for example paintability and adhesiveness.

Selectivity Estimation for Joins Using Systematic Sampling
We propose a new approach to the estimation of join selectivity. The technique, which we have called "systematic sampling", is a novel variant of the sampling-based approach. Systematic sampling works as follows: Given a relation R of N tuples,

Drosophila park mutants serve as a model for Parkinson's disease. We used this strain to investigate the connection between oxidative stress and the circadian clock mechanism. We showed that increased oxidative stress affects the physiology of pacemaker cells, disrupting their daily structural plasticity. Lack of rhythmic signaling from pacemaker cells

Modified balanced circular systematic sampling
New modifications of balanced circular systematic sampling and centered circular systematic sampling procedures are introduced here. We study the efficiency of the suggested sampling designs for several populations and find that our procedures are ...
